Re: RIVER TEIGN (North and South Teign Confluence to A382)

Paddled part of this section yesterday. Just below Chagford Bridge there was a string of barbed wire across the river.
I managed to detach one end and coil it all onto the post on the left bank.
Might just be worth keeping an eye out if it continues to appear.

I used East Coast Resin Supplies recently.
Had really good service. Just phoned them up and sorted it all in a few minutes. Fair prices.

Mark - you say different here.

It just annoys me that people seem to drone on about level dependant agreements then hypicrically paddle when its low.
There are other options. Go walking, climb, surfing or drink all night and sleep all day.

Re: Gene17 APW on the Dart 2010

If it was 6 inches below the slab in June or July we wouldn't condone people getting on the river. If it is 6 inches below the slab tomorrow morning how many people will be getting on the river? I'm not going to state my opinion of these people. Fingers crossed it rains hard tonight and we all have ...

This weekend is looking very unlikely to show the dart at it's best.
I'm sure the evening entertainment will be brilliant as usual but that is a long way to drive just to scape down an empty river.

Te drive up along the Lyn is a good one. It gives you an idea of how steep the river is.

It seems they think someone will at Lee Valley.

Does anyone know how this compares to the world champs and similar competitions?

There is the opportunity to win a boat and paddle in September's FHM. I've not really taken in the details as there are far more interesting things to look at.

Re: New wrsi lids

Did they just buy the happy2b mold? The Trident definitely looks like a Skook with a retention system. This sounds great. The Skook was a great shape with a good compromise of coverage for a high proportion of us in my opinion. It was let down by it's lack of fitting system much like the Strutter. ...

From the website: Canoe and kayaks launches are only permitted in Whitwell Creek. Not very clear! Presumably there are more 'rules' somewhere. When you are there I think you'll find it is clear what is the sheltered creek and what is the main body. Exploring the creek will not entertain you for lon...

Morsey - When you broke your Lendal splits on the Lynn did you not post something similar but just disguised as another question in a lengthy indirect post?

Tim - How did the crack come about? Were they bashed, stored outside over the winter or did they spontaneously combust?

I found it hard to find anywhere to hire us something bigger than a 9 seater when I did it a few years ago.
Ended up with a 17 seater transit with full length roof rack from this place.

The Double Dutch kenetics are loads lighter than the Streamlytes.
I know people with both who keep the Streamlytes as a cheaper set of spares.

Last time I was in Performance Kayaks they were thinking of making up a demo set of each.

No experience of Galasport blades I'm affraid.

For a lot of students the summer break is much needed time to recover financially from a the previous year's alcohol induced roller coater ride of being fun loving student boater. It's hard for many students to get short periods of work. When I organised a similar trip I just looked at the term date...

This has been done to death in the past. How many people have tried getting out via the waist band? I tried once and failed miserably. The argument of a tree piecing your deck is invalid in my mind. In that situation your leg is likely to be trapped in the boat. In this case your going to have to cu...

Don't do it, its addictive.... I bought a D40 for a little over £200, I then bought a 18-200 lens. So my cheap little SLR experiment has cost around £700! I agree. If all you want to do is take photos of your chums on the river get a compact. When on the river I use my waterproof pentax loads and d...
