A more testing exercise: just stand under the shower and turn on - cold water only.

Dagger G-Force 6.3

My son's boat for sale: Dagger G-Force 6.3. Hardly used and in very good condition. A few minor scratches but nothing significant. No cracks, dents or anything wrong. A fantastic playboat and handles very well on whitewater. Includes 2 airbags. £350 o.n.o. (Cardiff) Photos: https://www.dropbox.com/s...

I've taken mine to two different firestations, both of which took them without a blink of the eye.

Today (20/10/13) ran the section of the Senni described by Chris C. Shortly after the Gr 3/3 fall he described there is a tree across the whole river necessitating a portage (river left). Better not to run at all as there's a garden river left.

Nige, I ran it once but must be over 10 years ago. Even by then it had changed from the description given in Sladden's original edition of 'The Welsh Rivers'. I don't know whether the current edition reflects the current situation. I enjoyed the run though one of my buddies who took an extended swim...

Sorry lads, you should have gone to the Gower today (Sunday), not Saturday. It was beautiful weather for my round trip from Mumbles to Three Cliffs, Oxwich.Image

Re: sea kayakers in S.wales area

Cardiff-based, I've been sea kayaking for years. I accidentally met Jim, Steve, Stuart and another when going with a mate to Flat Holm today. A lovely trip which I do regularly, but the first time for me to paddle with Stuart. I'm afraid I hate Facebook though so you won't find me there. PM me or DM...

Yes, the sign has been noticed. The fishermen have become more aggressive recently. Here's a link to a letter from them submitted last year to the National Assembly's Sustainability Committee enquiry which shows their attitudes: http://www.assemblywales.org/187.pdf . Best ignore them. Continue getti...

Re: Sub-acromial decompression

I had a MRI scan when I had a bad shoulder. The scan revealed a small partial rotor cuff tear and much inflammation, diagnosed as due to an impingement - but I also had a frozen shoulder (my second) at the time. I had a steroid injection which had no great effect and so just took lots of ibuprufen a...

Re: CARDIFF INTERNATIONAL WHITE WATER UPDATE!!

Paddled the course yesterday. They were pumping at 10 cumecs for the 'elite' slalom paddlers who had the place until 14.30, then at 8 cumecs for the Park and Play session. £10 for 1 hours 30 minutes was fine by me. I'd had quite enough after 5 runs - which were all more or less straight runs through...

Re: Tide forecasts for the Isle of Wight

Thanks. I've looked at the UKHO's FAQ but couldn't find anything relevant. I couldn't find a FAQ for Belfield: maybe you have to buy the software first. But anyway, I guess my question really reduces to: is one generally more accurate than the other for Isle of Wight ports? Any view?

Re: Fishing line on beaches

I cleared a small plastic bags' worth of line, including weights and about 10 hooks, off the rock and mud beach at Swanbridge, Sully last week (while looking for my specs which had fallen off when I was practising my roll - and I found them!). To be fair the actual culprits probably can't do much ab...

Re: SAFFA 1975 Act, the new reason why we cannot paddle rivers

I'm afraid I've a vague memory from maybe 5 years ago of a centre (or centre instructor) being fined for leading a group down a weir on the Usk at Brecon, I think on the grounds it was a fish pass. Here's a note I found on Cardiff Canoe Club's newsletter when I googled the topic which at least corro...

I've a Kaikoura too and experience exactly the same problem with the red tags. When something is attached to them, the snagging problem isn't as bad so one tip might be to try to use them. I'm still at the stage of trying to train myself to close the zips carefully but I suspect it's a matter of tim...

Parking at Poole

Anyone know about long-term parking at Poole? I'm catching a Condor ferry there next week and will want to offload my boat to another car before parking mine. From the net, I gather there's a car park by the entrance to the terminal opposite the terminal. Will there be a place in front where we can ...

Re: Repairs to Sea Kayaks Afloat

I've seen two-part epoxy like Waterweld work twice. I've seen several attempts at using Denso and duct tape but never seen them work convincingly. None of those were attempts while at sea but at least I can imagine two-part epoxy working in some quite trying circumstances, assuming the damage isn't ...

I was hoping to get there this week but the plan fell through. The thought of midges didn't help but the thought of ticks was worse. Did you find any, or more likely, did any find you?
