Paddle length, not that old question...

Being relatively new to sea kayaking, summer 2020, I have just about all the equipment I need to paddle in the sea, some 500m from my door step. I was sensible and bought most things second hand, but now my thoughts are turning to fine tuning those pieces of equipment not fitted too well to my perso...

Re: Paddling the lower river Tay, in a Sea Kayak

Wonderful Jim, many thanks for sharing this. I think the plan is to wait until the weather warms and then plan to leave the lower carpark, at just before high tide. A friend who lives in Newburgh and operates a RHIB from there, suggests the out going tide is ~7.5 to 8 hours and the incoming tide -4....

Re: Paddling the lower river Tay, in a Sea Kayak

Thanks Rae1. I assume you paddle a smaller white water kayak down from Dunkeld? I was told separately that there is a carpark just south of Stanley, marked here at P32, where there is a path down to the river. I'm hoping to avoid and scrapes and portage in my sea kayak. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn....

Paddling the lower river Tay, in a Sea Kayak

Hi, I'looking for local knowledge of launch points just north of Perth on the river Tay. I've had a look at various maps and satalite views and it would appear possible to launch north of Perth and then paddle down stream in the West channel to Newburgh, for recovery onto land. Has anyone down this ...

Re: Lockdown.

I'm fortunate to live on the Forth, in Fife. We have been for a short paddle as it is local. On Sunday we had superb weather, and an ebb tide and tailbreeze to drift home on.

Flo / Bright hood for drysuit.

I have a Typhoon Multisport drysuit with a velcro strip attached round the back of the Neoprene neck cover (latex neck seal). I'd like some sort of waterproof hood. Google shows two on offer between £20-36. These are from construction clothing sellers. Does anyone have a similar experience sourcing ...

Re: Recommend Sealant & What’s this called?

I have a Tootega sit on top kayak and ordered these from AS Watersports. The Mooring Buoy fittings are shown alongside the D rings and their prices, for you. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20201204/2613d278c8d1dc04d4b6c971ac877ca1.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20201204/ce155f5ccdf26dbebc81b...

Re: Ear question

Reviving this thread, as I'm learning to roll, and suffered dizziness for a long while afterwards.

Can anyone recommend ear plugs which prevent water ingress please?

Many thanks,

Dave C
