Re: South Coast Kayaking Partner

I'm in Romsey and up for a paddle. Not sure if you'll see this in time but I might head to Chichester tomorrow for a paddle before the weather turns bad on Wednesday. High tide is around 4pm so I'll probably aim to hit the water by midday, paddle down to the sea and come back with the tide in the af...

Re: Sea kayaks X2 wanted

I see 2 capellas on eBay right now from the same seller. One purple and one grey. Not affiliated, just saw them while browsing.

Re: older valley skeg cable repair/upgrade

It has 1 turn above the skeg box with a radius similar to a football. Without the pebbles it had little resistance, although the more I consider it, the more I think to just stick to what's there already. The skeg could retract from grounding as is but possibly not with a thicker cable. I may attemp...

older valley skeg cable repair/upgrade

Took my boat (valley aquanaut circa ~07) out for a paddle around calshot today. After a spot of lunch at the beach cafe I launched back to find the skeg jammed with rocks and bent the cable. It measures 3mm on the Vernier but the casing has room for 4mm. Am I asking for more problems to beef it up a...

Re: New member looking for first kayak advice

Thanks for all the advice guys. I've picked up a valley aquanaut LV RM in reasonable condition. Have ordered 2 replacement hatches that were perished but the cockpit seat, backbrace and thing braces look brand new. Skeg works but will give it some attention to get it perfect as it has a little too m...

Re: New member looking for first kayak advice

I'm not hung up on a plumb bow. Whatever I find that fits will be more capable than me I'm sure!

Re: Mega Diamanté Rapide for sale London

I'm interested. How tall are you? Would it be suitable for a shorter paddler?

Re: New member looking for first kayak advice

I love the tiderace pace boats but I'm sure they're well out of my price range. I don't mind plastic or glass as I can do glass and gelcoat repairs myself. Watching a valley aquanaut right now but it's a bit far to drive down in Cornwall incase it's not as described. From the measurements the curren...

Re: New member looking for first kayak advice

Thanks for the recommendations Chris. The skuk kayaks in particular look like they have excellent options for smaller paddlers. I can't afford to buy new though so will have to keep scouring the net for something suitable.

Re: New member looking for first kayak advice

I saw a valley rapier go on eBay last week. It was gorgeous but I held back as it was just under 18" wide. I thought it would be too steep a learning curve at that width but would you think it's doable? My friend also has another kayak which is some kind of early nordkapp prototype with a very round...

New member looking for first kayak advice

Hello all, new user here saying hi and looking for some first sea kayak advice. First a little about myself. I was once a member of a club, river kayaking but must've been at least 10 years ago now. I'm 163cm and 65kg with a 29" waist and average build. I could Eskimo roll on flat water but would've...
