I think jackp is the op.

For me I do both depending on conditions, I stretch out as often as possible.
Haha! Thanks Chris, mixing up the threads!
Jackp - do you have your legs straight or up behind the thigh braces?

You could try pouring some hot but not too hot water over them and trying again.

I’d be tempted to just use. First fit of my pressure deck had blood vessels bulging. You could always email Steve Whetman and ask him.

I have a new whetman pressure deck for my new boat in the recommended size. It takes a fair bit of effort to get it on.

These are the current p&h ones - https://store.phseakayaks.com/index.php/ph_en/outfitting/sea-kayak-toggles-with-ripe.html I had a Scorpio until recently and Mrs P and I both found the toggles very uncomfortable. Even with an unladen boat they would dig into your hand. The simple SKUK ones are far m...

Thanks for any suggestions how to resolve this. I’ve had a go at softening it with hot air and also piercing the bubbles. Unfortunately neither has been successful so I’ve peeled it all off. I’ll order some more and have another go without water. Cheers Just fit strips where the paddle blade contac...

Re: Any helicopter tape experts here?

I have no idea why you'd use soapy water. The helicopter tape has an adhesive on it. When I looked up instructions, they just said to clean the area and apply. I think using soapy water means it won't adhere properly. I applied some that I wanted to take off - it wasn't difficult to unpeel. Mrs P a...

Any helicopter tape experts here?

The gel coat on Mrs P’s deck has been getting a bit scratched up so we’ve followed advice and put helicopter tape on the fore deck. I did a bit of googling to see how to do it and ended up using the soapy water method - spray some soapy water on the adhesive side of the tape and on the boat so you c...

Re: Drysuit purchase advice

In the winter I wear thermal base layers. When the weather warms up a bit I keep the thermal throusers but wear both a long and short sleeve rash vest. As it warms up further I’ll lose either of the rash vests dependant on the temp. In the summer I tend to wear a short sleeve cag and dry trousers or...

Re: Drysuit purchase advice

I’ve just bought a peak deluxe one piece to replace my typhoon multi sport 4 which is now too big. I’ve been really pleased with the peak suit so far. The zip is really flexible compared to the typhoon which felt a bit like it had a coat hanger in it. Peak customer service seems really good too. Mrs...

I did a BCU 1 star course years ago when I wanted to get back into kayaking after a long break. I think it was 2 days with a load of others who hadn’t paddled before. It was a great confidence builder. It looks like the “start” award is the new version of that course. I’d really recommend it. https:...

I’ll second that. Mrs P has just had her drysuit repaired as it had started to weep. There was a charge but very modest. Turn around time was unbelievable. They were on the phone saying what they’d found the same day that it arrived with them. I also emailed Peak a week or two ago to check on zip cl...

For paddling on the sea it’s worth bearing in mind that the Virgo has a watertight bow compartment and is effectively a shortened proper sea kayak. If the cockpit fills with water you can still get in it and paddle it. The expression doesn’t have a bow compartment so if it floods the bow may sink (...
