Re: Afloat on Christmas Day...?
Launched at Talland bay and headed down to polperro where we got a tip off about some dolphins heading to Looe so we turned around and caught up with them. Spent about an hour watching the dolphins. We kept our distance but some came over to us and passed Within 2 metres of Mrs Pedro. Fantastic. htt...

Often the best way to use CAD. Too many things designed on screens without the imperfections and fundamental effects of reality.

Re: Petrel Play SG
Having filleted along the keel and one of the chines I had a go at sanding the fillets back which didn’t take too long but there are lots of pits in the fillets. I found a wessex resins article which suggested using peel ply on fillets. I’ve bought a roll and done a small test section. I think this ...

Re: How much flex in single layer plastic?
A while back Mrs Pedro had a single layer venture Jura MV and I had my current p&h Scorpio MV corelite (triple layer). Hardly any difference in weight or stiffness that I could tell. Mrs Pedro then got a Scorpio MV CLX and that is a tiny bit lighter than my Scorpio but nothing to get excited about. ...

Did anybody see the 'mad surfer' on Saving Lives at Sea recently? Although initially you thought he was a complete idiot for jumping into the sea and trying to surf in a Force 11, it turns out he is a global extreme surf expert and he went into the water with full knowledge of the tidal movement an...

Ours is also spaced to match bulkhead positions and timber pads attached to the steel that match the shape of the deck. It’s probably overkill!

Well it’s slow progress but progress none the less! Finally finished sanding out the mess this weekend and have put the centre fillet in. Masking it off helped keep it under control. I’ll let this cure and then do the fillets in the chines. I think it’ll be easier as it’ll stop the stems from gettin...

Hi Drammock,
It may be provisionally sold pending collection but I’ll let you know tomorrow if that’s ok? If not I’ll get some photos sorted.
If it does go then the orange one MAY be available in the next couple of months.
Cheers,
Pete

P&H Scorpio MV MKII CLX - now sold
18 month old Scorpio MV MKII CLX for sale. Skeg version. Very good condition. It’s never been scraped up or down a beach or slipway. There are a few minor dings on the bottom from submerged rocks but nothing out of the ordinary. It’s always been washed after use. Stored under a tailor made UV resist...

Re: Petrel Play SG
I’ve heard back from Nick Schade who has suggested the filleting then sanding route. He did also say that I could glass in stages, letting the epoxy cure before feathering the edge of the glass before doing the next piece/section. He did say it would be slightly weaker but ok. With that input and ha...

Thanks Paul, good to know you glassed over fillets O.K. how long were they curing for? Not glassing in the hatches could be an option. Thanks for reminding me that those areas won’t be visible!

Re: Petrel Play SG
Interesting comments. Definitely need to do a few experiments I think. I’ll be interested to see what Nick Schade suggests. Glassing in sections could be a good option. I chose to lay the glass out in one piece due to the lack of space in my garage and lack of a clean flat surface to cut the glass o...

Thanks Nick. It’s good to hear that both you and Damo understand the problem. I’ve emailed Nick Schade so I’ll wait and see what he suggests. In the meantime I think I’ll experiment with some test pieces with both the sanding and taping options. I’ve no idea how easy/difficult it would be to sand th...

Re: Petrel Play SG
Thanks Damo, hadn’t thought about the step on the edge of the tape - good point. The manual for the PP does say that if you can’t go straight to glassing then the fillets will need sanding first so I guess that would suggest that it would be ok to leave out the tape. I think sanding the fillets migh...
