Re: Greenland Paddles: Carbon Fibre vs Wood

A chap recently posted on Facebook about how he made a gp out of a 2x4 from b&q ..it would’ve cost peanuts. A western red cedar blank bought online is probably going to cost around £130 ..less at a local sawmill.. if they sell it. but for a first attempt some folks use plain old construction timber...

Re: Age range, beat this?

Well done Jason 👍. Definitely not me, I'm just a mere 75 and I doubt that having a baby is my 50 year old daughter's New Year resolution 😄😆😂🤣

Re: Best Type of Glue for different boat issues

Hi kayakbiker, your boat is most likely to be HDPE, which is notoriously difficult to get a good bond, and the decals most likely are vinyl with acrylic adhesive, so I suggest using 3M 468 Transfer Tape. Gently peel back a little more decal, clean both surfaces, especially the decal which quite like...

Re: Some questions about tandem kayaks

Although I have no experience of paddling a tandem kayak yet,( it's still being built ), my wife and I have been canoeing and riding a tandem bike for many years, and since the very first outing on either we've never had any disagreement nor problems. Re: Permit etc

I wouldn't want to put my postcode on a boat as then the thief knows where you live and you'll probably buy a replacement. And one day you'll probably sell it. These boats could exist after our death.
Very good point !

Re: Security marking PE kayaks?

Whilst there are some highly aggressive industrial fluids which will etch PE, these aren't available retail. If I had a similar boat I would mark it by writing name/postcode/logo etc using the hot tip of a soldering iron preferably in an area of 'lesser' structural importance, perhaps somewhere like...

Re: Norfolk Broads Advice

The best and first thing to do is to buy a copy of "Norfolk Broads Canoe & Kayak Guide" by Steve Maloney, you can get this from Amazon. This book will tell you all you need to know about put-ins, slips, parking on all of the rivers and broads. Second, look at the official Norfolk Broads website, ple...
