Re: Companies that rock

Sweet So I finally bought a rocker... I didn't want to attach the visor so I was left with a hole in the front. Apparently other folk got stickers with theirs for just this situation, but I was stickerless. Wrote to their customer services asking where I could get one and a very nice lady called Ulr...

Re: LADIES PADDLE SYMPOSIUM 27th-28th April 2013

Unfortunately, I have experienced sexism in our sport. Not nastily, (soft sexism?!) but there is an assumption thats I will be weaker since I'm female. I've always put this down to a lack of knowledge- "you've never seen me boat" -sort of a thing. When women have equal representation in all aspects ...

Re: FS. Dagger Juice

I'm about 65kg and have had loads of fun in the Juice. A male friend of mine at uni used to paddle the same juice and he was probably about your size. He had to take the foot rest out to fit in, but loved it! Where are you based?

FS. Dagger Juice

Selling my orange Juice 6.9 because I've not used it in a year. Plus, I'm moving house and 3 kayaks might be seen as excessive! Normal sort of condition for a used boat, lots of scratches, no major damage. Based in Bristol but often boating up north at the weekends. £300 but open to offers. Will sor...

Re: Piercings and river kayaking... compatible?

Hey Rache I got the top of my ear done in October, left it maybe two weeks before paddling.(More by accident then design) The biggest problem is I keep catching on my cag/dry suit changing. They said that it should take 12 weeks to heal, before I could take it out. Its been about that now and while ...

Lift to Scotland this Friday

I'm trying to get myself from Bristol to Scotland for New year, and after a couple of transport hiccups I thought I'd try my luck here! Anyone heading up and have room for a little one? I will bring cake and petrol money! And dont actually have to bring a boat if there's no roof space. I can probabl...

Re: Has any kayaker/canoeist ever been badly hurt by a swan?

Just a little... While training for the Devizes- Westminster, "Saddam" who lived just outside Devizes would regularly attack! One tactic is to go pass as a group and try really hard not to be the boat at the back! Worst I ever got was a beaked shapped bruise on my shoulder and a ringing in my ears t...

Re: River Access Petition, No 10 response

Don't know about anyone else but I quite like the idea of being an "unmanaged" user when on the river! Does beg the question "How sir, are you going to manage me?"
Are ramblers "managed"?

Moving to Bristol

As the subject says, I'm moving to Brstol this summer and need: 1) Somewhere to live 2) People to paddle with!! I'm a 22 year old (soon to be!) Pharmacy graduate starting my pre-reg year in the Bristol Royal Infirmary (fingers crossed) this August. I'm currently based in Manchester and know no-one i...

Manchester Uni sacrifices freshers to the river god, at the beginning of every year. (Swimming that is, not literally!) That way he gives us boating fortune for the rest of the year, so:

"We didn't sacrifice enough in September!!"

I'd like to propose FeelingJustFine in this category: he and Mendip should have a 'Rant-Off', followed by a 'Paddle-Off'. Points for most outrageous opinions and mystery moves. I for one would pay for a ringside seat. I'll second that!! Having actually met them both I think it would be fantastic!!!!

Normally a solid would be more dense than its liquid, and require less space. BUT water is different: There are different bonds at work, and it forms a lattice structure, which is different to a normal arrangement, and has more "gaps" in between the individual molecules, meaning it is less dense, a...

Bitching this August, some help??!!

Hi all, I've got a problem I'm hoping you can help with!! I've been paddling at university some time now, but being pembrokeshire born and bred and having spent many summers paddling arround the coast, I rather fancy the bitches!! I'm not alone, and the offer of free accomodation just south of st. d...

Just a question

Just wondering... The anglers say canoeists use it at any time without the consent of the landowners or occupiers. How many of you have ever been approached by someone you believe to be the genuine landowner? I'm welsh, come from rural pembrokeshire and regually go fishing (sea) and more significant...

oh that would be strange.. all my mates are male.. I like being the only girlyp in the group.. Ditto!! I'm often the only girl on a trip and I really don't mind! The only time anyone notices is when the tone of the conversation drops several notches and then they realise I'm female!!!! However, was...

A car tyre valve thing! Not sure exactly what its called, but it fits perfectly in place of a bung on most boats! And yes I did buy it in a garage when someone forgot theirs!

I also did DW at dauntseys, so did my little bro after me, and i too have been attacked by saddam!! he is pure evil and the sound of his feet on the surface and his wings beating is truely terrifying!! although its a little harsh, our squad discovered he had a tendancy to attack the last boat in the...
