Re: Pong

I'd be wary of using Milton. I don't think neoprene takes too kindly to bleach! It may kill the odour causing bacteria but will damage neoprene.

Re: Pong

I can vouch for RickC's Zoflora for wetboots - I've used it for decades. After rinsing with fresh water leave them submerged in a bucket with Zoflora overnight. Not only do they not wreak, they seem to last much longer too.

Thule roofbars

I'm having a bit of a roofbar clearout as I'm now using Thule Hullavators on Probars. Therefore, I'm selling:

1 x pair of Thule Slidebars 144cm - £120

1 x pair of Thule Wingbars 135cm - £30

Both sets in good clean order.

Located South Manchester.

Re: Small hard bubbles on composite hull

Paul-C is bang on. Knowing how it's occurred is something else. It could be caused by long term storage with water in the hull or laid up against damp grass. I've also seen it caused by poor manufacturing / incomplete curing of the resins. I can't be sure from the photos but it looks like it has occ...

Re: Removing vinyl graphics

I've removed many stickers/labels from many substrates in my time using the slow peel method. However, I didn't know about this method:

After removal many stains come out using an oxalic acid cleaner.

Re: Length of bars for Hullavator

I use a couple of sets on a Volvo V70 P3 with the recommended bars. I use 1/8" steel shims on top of the outer ends of the fixed brackets. This gives a little more width clearance for the body when lowered. This also has the additional benefits of the kayak being more stable in the saddles whil...

Re: Pyranha Mystic touring kayak for smaller paddlers - any ideas

I'm not 100% sure but I think this is the same hull as the Pyranha Pilot. I had a Pilot for my partner and it was a great little boat. Only reason for moving it on was ours didn't have the rudder kit and with no skeg my partner struggled to maintain course in a good following wind.

Cavemud,
Have a look at the Thule 881 adaptor kit. I bought a set for a pair of hull-a-ports but simply made a pair for some non-thule j-bars.

Re: Thule Slidebars query

If you are strapping to j-bars/brackets you can. However, you would be best lacing the straps then tensioning when the bars are centred. This overcomes any excess friction due to having to slide in perfect alignment. Also, this way you can put a couple of final riding turns around the bars for extra...

Kari-Tek ELRR for Hullavator swap

I have a Kari-Tek ELRR which is too big for current needs and I'm looking to swap it for a Hullavator. Sliding carriage measures 185cm and it comes complete with two sets of kayak cradles (would probably take four!). All in good condition.

Note for admin: Apologies - first posted in wrong area.
