Re: Double Dutch Sea Screamer

Is it paddling well? No surf here on East coast Scotland! But I did try it out on flat water - rolls easier than banshee and mojo I’ve tried, rolls very easily. A little more tippy and at 16.5 stone the tail is under but Jock said he surfs his at over 17 stone still, and he cut the thigh braces bac...

Re: Double Dutch Sea Screamer

If you go to any of the Scottish competitions there will always be 2 or 3 Screamers in attendance. Folk who have them seem to love them and they are capable of floating a decent weight (if you know Jock) and yet there are also a couple of far lighter female paddlers who get on equally well with the...

Re: Double Dutch Sea Screamer

you can find the designer Niel Baxter on fb. Sure he can tell all about it. there have been a number of different versions truw the decades :) I am quite sure i have seen some at our Dutch coast a longtime ago. htere was a bloke of 90 kg plus paddling it and he had altered it so ithad more volume i...

Double Dutch Sea Screamer

Anyone any experience with Double Dutch sea screamers? The flat hull 10’6 IC surf kayak version, not the rounded hull 11’6 river screamer. How do they compare to modern finless IC surf kayaks? Rare so wouldn’t be surprised if few people have tried one.

Re: Soul Waterman 303

If you are on Facebook then look at Corran Addisons page. Earlier in the week he posted about the 303. He is obviously going to be biased as the designer but it might give you a bit of an insight. https://www.facebook.com/510619127/posts/10160827682274128/?d=n And then This post which is originally...

Soul Waterman 303

Anyone any experience with the soul Waterman 303? Few vids out there but not so many reviews. Any drawbacks to it? Have had a large ripper and have an IC surf kayak, guessing it’s a bit more of a handful than the ripper and similar ish to my finless IC surf boat, but would be interested to hear from...

Re: Deck size for valley etain 17’7

I have a 17.5 composite and my Reed deck works well with it. It's Keyhole A and is a tight but OK fit. I'm not sure if the 17.7 cockpit is a bit bigger though. Reed will know if you drop them an e-mail Got a Reed keyhole in “plastic” size on their advice which fits really well, fairly tight. Mine i...

Re: Deck size for valley etain 17’7

Own an Etain 17.7 and a fair bit of rolling and surf stuff. Hiko crust supratex-plus cl-87. Not a drop of water. Comes at €79,- Very strong and can be used on pe boats just as well. But the Palm R4, e.g. the Raonoke fits nice as well. Here in the Netherlands they come at €109. Also use a Hiko neopr...

Deck size for valley etain 17’7

Anyone paddle a valley etain 17’7 that can recommend best fitting deck size and brand? Looking for reasonably tight and least leaky but don’t want a cag/deck all in one.

Re: Anyone tried a pyranha ozone yet?

Brilliant. I’m waiting for my large ozone, but no deliveries til end of lockdown I guess. The large loki was difficult for me to keep under control on class 3, hopefully this will behave a bit better.

Re: Anyone tried a pyranha ozone yet?

Jou! Got my new Ozone large home today. Big and comfy! I am 191 cm (6´3^English?), feet 11,5 Astral Hiyaks, and I can very comfortably sit in with my Hiyaks, and I had to even raise the seat a little bit! So, totally a big and comfortable boat to sit in. Tomorrow a test paddling from our own place,...

Re: Anyone tried a pyranha ozone yet?

Thanks for the responses, I’ve got a ripper, it is fun, but think the ozone looks great for grade 2 club runs and standing waves. The Loki was too tight for me, I like the 4 fun but hey I’m a sucker for marketing and the price just got dropped by 10%, so a large ozone on order, as I’m a big lad.

Anyone tried a pyranha ozone yet?

So, has anyone who’s not a rep bought or tried out a Pyranha ozone yet? How was it? Any comparison to other Pyranha playboats such as the Loki, Jed etc? Is it all hype or is the ozone something special, do tell!

Re: Squeezing into a surf kayak

Yeah same as posted on Scottish surf kayak Facebook page. I spoke with Pete at mega kayaks, and decided to go with a banshee, but with the higher braces of the Edge fitted to it, and leave the centre foam out initially - it’s in the xtech so he said it’s plenty strong enough. All of that should give...

Squeezing into a surf kayak

I’m looking to get a mega banshee, at 5’11 and 107kg, which on paper should be OK. Have sat in one and managed to get my thunder thighs in, but it was a contortion act. This will be my first surf boat, so only comparison I have is river boats which are so much roomier. Is it normal for big guys to s...

Help choosing playboat for big guy

I’m 5’11, 107kg (236lb). Want my first playboat - probs more for surfing (river) but I’d like to have a crack at getting it on end and air time. I’m looking locally at a second hand large pyranha Molan which I’ve tried on grade 2 and is OK but have to lean back a bit or the bow pearls even on the fl...

Re: Back deck roll

You mention surfing, if this is in the sea then your probably already doing a back deck roll but not realising. I’m only just trying out grade 3 and surfing at the sea, not big waves, if I tip I just wait for the wave to pass and do a sweep roll but interesting if a back deck roll is useful on bigg...

Back deck roll

I’m in a Pyranha ripper, running rivers mostly with a bit of sea surfing. For those in river boats not play boats, is the back deck roll something you use on grade 3 up or not so much? Looks a fun one to learn but day to day wondered how useful it is and how often you use it for non playboaters on w...

Replacement fin for five-0??

Anyone know what fin and where I might get it to fit my perception five-0 sit on surf kayak? It’s out of production, someone in USA has stock, but wondering closer to home. Had heard the cobra strike fin fits but can’t see them for sale either. Any help gladly received! Sam
