Direction of low brace turn

Technique question—I’m teaching myself the low brace turn primarily on flat water. Half the time the boat (16ft sea kayak) turns inside, toward the brace, and half the time it turns away from the brace in an equal arc. What can I do to choose the direction with more decisiveness?

Virgo v Delphin

Anyone who's paddled a P&H Virgo able to offer a comparison to the Delphin? The Virgo looks interesting for rockhopping/surf play (a stratos competitor?) but seems to have less rocker than the longer Delphin. All insights from any owned/demoed Virgos appreciated.

Re: Typhoon Drysuit Sizing

Same height, slightly narrower chest, I ordered ML and wish I’d just done M. Legs are quite long on me.

Re: Cockpit design balancing hip rotation and bracing

All fair points, and so far the anecdotal responses are helpful in affirming (if not narrowing) my focus. Nothing beats a demo but when a demo is a whole planned trip away, it’s helpful to at least know somebody w my approx shape can achieve great leg drive in a certain cockpit.

Re: Cockpit design balancing hip rotation and bracing

Oxnard, Cali. Agreed on demoing but if I were to try a taran, for example, it’d mean a flight. Trying to see if there’s a more local contender.

Cockpit design balancing hip rotation and bracing

I’m starting to think about a fast sea kayak and the obvious models to demo are spread across the country (US). In my quest to narrow the search I’ve identified the crux of what I’m looking for—a cockpit design that allows surfski-like hip rotation/leg position AND knee braces that would support edg...

Re: Delphin outfitting

I think I’ll start by ditching the hip grips and switching out the backband. I might try one of the low profile IR bands before going the mini cell foam route, but I appreciate the insight. Not jamming my spine into the aft coaming is definitely a priority. My hamstrings are a daily project but not ...

Delphin outfitting

I'm growing into/out of my P&H Delphin 150 and I'm finding that the aggressive "whitewater style" seat, hip grips and backband are too... aggressive for me. Can't quite get "back" enough in layback rolls and generally feel pinned into the thigh grips even when I move the foot pedals back a notch. (V...

PLB protection

Do you put your PLB in a tiny dry bag? I’d like to keep it in my PFD but I don’t want to worry about salt water corrosion during surf or roll sessions. Dry bags add bulk, though.
