Re: Spare paddles scratching deck

One reason that i don't use the Kayak britches is that the deck lines have to be tight for them to stay in place and personally for me with the cold waters here in the northern Isles trying to grab a hold of a tight wet Deck line if you need to with 5mm gloves on (which is the minimum thickness up h...

Re: Spare paddles scratching deck

I used a different method and used a piece of foam backed Lino that was off cuts from when our kitchen was floored but you could find some lino in a skip. I folded the lino over to the width i wanted it with the shinny wood effect on the inside so that when you pull the paddles out they come out sup...

Re: Compass for deck with a ridge line.

Changed my mind a and bought a 160mm boating trailer snubber block. Drilled two countersink holes on the inner side towards the corners of the Snubber for the bungee elastic knots to sit in so the Snubber sits flush on the Kayak. Threaded the bungees through and roughened up the flat section of the ...

Re: Compass for deck with a ridge line.

Do you have a front hatch ? You could mount a compass on to that, I’ve seen that before. An ordinary map reading compass is better than nothing. It will sit flat on the spraydeck, tether it to a deck line or any lines on your spray deck. Hi yes i have a front Hatch cover but the ridge line runs thr...

Re: Compass for deck with a ridge line.

Thanks Northern blue as your suggestion made me come up with an idea which is to use a rubber mooring compensator. The thick rectangular ones with a groove in each side and six holes for rope to go through but i will use those holes to attach bungees too instead and should be easy enough to cut to t...

Compass for deck with a ridge line.

I acquired a Fibre glass Sea kayak last year and after going to Kayak classes through the winter months to learn the basics have been out a few times this year. But it occurred to me that if i wished to go out to sea further and a heavy fog came in i might get lost and that i could do with a deck mo...

Re: Protect Latex seals

Hi when i was saying neoprene cuffs I meant the ones you can get that come fitted to a suit or dry cag that cover the Latex wrist seals so as to prevent UV rays degrading the Latex wrist seals. Personally i wouldn't change my seals to neoprene as neoprene is not as water tight as latex. Wetsuits are...

Re: Protect Latex seals

Hi, I changed the latex seals myself it would be getting the neoprene cuffs put on the suit that would be the hastle, postage etc so that is why i want to try this glue to use it instead of neoprene cuffs and if it works it will be a possible for anyone to do and prolong the life of there latex wrist...

Re: Protect Latex seals

Hi PlymouthDamo. With the Glue being able to withstand a temperature range between +120 to -40 I would say it does stop UV. It does not effect how the seals work, you wouldn't know it was on your seals it is so flexible. At £4:60 a for a tube of this glue and the fact that it gives a large covering f...
