Re: Do we even need a grading system any more?

I don't think everything has been done, and certainly not all that much has been actually filmed. Grades are great for sections that have been done once or twice, or scouted but not paddled regularly. Scotland for example, is regularly paddled in and it's true there's thousands of videos of the etiv...

Re: Your best cock-up (not carnage)

Probably when trying to go for a cheeky wee after work blast on the Kiachnish last September. Apparently jumping on a 7km gorge run that goes miles away from any roads and none of us knew at 7:30pm wasn't the best idea I've ever had. Funnily enough, it got very dark as we were nearing the end of the...

What's the run like? Is it a good one to go to if other things are on the high side for anyone who's surname isn't Lammler?

Ah nice! Yeah that was a bit of an unfair guess. Never done it myself but George and Tom said it was awesome a few years ago and I can see them both in the picture!

Re: Infinity Wezzit

Yep! It's the long kind of 'chute' rapid, just seen from below. I think it's the last bigger drop on it but it was a few years ago now.

Nope, it's none of the exciting ones. The rather large pourover on the right of the pic is where the big rock of 'Big Rock' usually is!

Re: Infinity Wezzit

Haha, that was a lucky guess based off the fact that I know Banzer likes the far north, and the rock in the background looks a bit similar to the Gruinard's glen... Whereabouts is the sign? Also here's one to try, wee POV shot for a change, extra points if you can name the rapid. https://media.ukriv...

Re: Paddles found in French Alps

Hi mate, cheers for posting! If they are a set of blue VEs with red and yellow tape over the cranks then they belong to a friend of mine who lost them on the Guisane, I think he is still out there just now.

Re: Infinity Wezzit

It's not the Biasse tea cups is it? Not quite but I'll give you it! It is the wee creek that joins the Biasse just below the teacups (I think the Biasse up here is called the torrent d'oules or something). It's called the torrent du chichin. There's some steep chossy grade 4/5 in the 300m below an ...

Not quite, had to google torrente bogna! The valley is near Briancon in France, also has a big 60 footer on another wee stream that gets run occasionally that joins this stream about 200m downstream of where the photo is taken. Will give it till tomorrow then I'll post something a bit less obscure t...
