If you’re only doing flat water you might get away with a bulkeaded touring kayak such as a bolero, it’s not too slow, it’s easy to turn Skeg up, goes straight Skeg down. A little bit old school ,, my first boat was a dagger outlaw I picked it up off eBay for £150 found it good for river running , I still use it now for sea surfing I love it don't think I will ever part with it

Thanks for all your comments on this subjects Some people like me when first starting out not sure which direction to go its good to get a kayak that can be used on rivers and a bit of sea surf so its good to know what's available out their that can be used for both especially when your on a budget....
