Re: Guil Secret Gorge

I believe this is the one below the barrage that could end very badly if the barrage were to dump water in a spectacular fashion down them (but equally needs some water coming down)

Re: Pfunds, Austria - Kayak Hire

I don't think there is anything really that far up the valley. Source2Sea is probably your best bet if you don't know anyone working at the rafting companies to borrow off.

Re: Do you need a backband?

For a creeker I would say that it is important as if you have a large impact going backwards the backband will break a lot easier than the cockpit rim of the boat, taking some of the force out of the system and potentially saving you from a damaged back or worse.

Re: Where best to mount a camera?

In general as many places as possible, and play around as much as possible. The more angles the better, and the more chance you will get that killer shot.

Re: Are you better at kayaking if you do other adventure sports?

I would in general say that crossing sports generally improves your abilities. Confidence is a big part of many sports, and if you are feeling good in one it can cross boundaries. Plus doing a broader range of activities generally helps with fitness and 'knowing your body'
