Re: thrusters, does flat foil matter?

My own research indicates that the flat foil also is significantly faster than a double foil. http://forum.surfer.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showthreaded&Number=1154288 Another good surfing fin guide. http://www.boardcave.com/the-surfers-corner/the-surfboard-fin-guide/ In the USA, True Ames and Ra...

thrusters, does flat foil matter?

I'm curious how much people think having a flat foil thruster versus a normal foil fin matters in a 3 fin setup. The flat foils seem a lot more fragile and are harder to find. This is for a recreational boater that doesn't get out too frequently because the surf sucks here.

Re: Waveski/surf kayak advice

The longer boats shouldn't be much difference than your slalom boat for rolling and rest stability, although the ocean can be more dynamic than an eddy because of wind, currents and confused waves. The soup is a bitch in any boat with cross currents and down currents tugging on your edges, paddle an...

Re: boat advice please, 90kg with marauder and cyclone

Fair points. Perhaps what it boils down to is if I were to buy new banshee/eclipse would be the best choice as the one boat for our conditions and inconsistent/infrequent surf. If I can find a used shorter HP style boat at a good price that might argue for it being bought based on opportunity, perha...

Re: How big is too big?

Santa Cruz has a peaky wave with a consistent peel and an outside paddle out. I've surfed double overhead hurricane like that and it wasn't that hard, although I had to wait until low tide because otherwise the beach break would have cracked my spine. It would have been really easy in a longer boat ...

Re: Waveski/surf kayak advice

If you can find a cheap classic IC like a mega cyclone you'll have a ton of fun, catch loads of waves and make blistering speed. It's easy to build confidence. I wish I started out on one of these. I can sit in mine for hours and hours. If you were to buy something new a mid size boat with fins like...

Re: boat advice please, 90kg with marauder and cyclone

As you are enjoying your Cyclone I would suggest to look out for the hp short long boat styles before you buy. Mega Bullitt S, Banshee, Vamp and the Ride Eclipse as I think you might find they tick all your boxes Yeah, makes sense, although I could argue that the marauder is already a blend like th...

boat advice please, 90kg with marauder and cyclone

Hi, I've got an old marauder that I'm thinking of upgrading onto something like a scarab. I'm 90kg and am wondering how the scarab, halo or newer HP boats will be. I can surf the marauder fine but in the line up it's bit of a handful as I have to paddle slowly or scull brace to keep upright. I also ...
