Re: How do I re-proof a drysuit?

I put in bath with grangers hand hot and use a sponge on bad stains . They do a reproofing bottle that doesn't need the heat activation. Dry any latex and leave on a coat hanger over bath to air dry. Worked on Palm cag and Typhoon drysuit

Re: Kayak Buying

Try a few at a club or dealer. It could save you making an expensive mistake. I'm an old fart at 57 with a competitive swimming and lifeguarding background. Got into kayaking late and moved rapidly from sit on to sit in. My first sea trip was frankly quite scary. I'd say go second hand but make it s...

Never joined a club . Loads on the river though. Some specialise in racing or slalom others recreational. I'm moving soon to Cotswolds. River Wey and canal are worth doing.

I used a venture flex 11 for exactly what you're doing. Based in Walton on Thames. Pop down to White water canoe centre in Shepperton. You can try boats and have a list of local clubs

Re: kitting out new sea kayakers

I've done both. A good cag trousers combi and spraydeck barely leaked. Gave seasonal versatility. However got drysuit for cold sea paddling. It's too hot now for inland day trips though. Thermal and wicking base layers have equal importance. Excellent design on Typhoon drysuit.

Plus 1 for Thames. I've found lock keepers very obliging or many locks have rollers that are quick and easier than waiting. I live 10 mins from it in Walton. Regularly spot kingfifishers and even mink on last trip.try Windsor to Putney.

I went for this https://www.thule.com/en-gb/gb/sport-rack/kayak-roof-racks/thule-dockgrip-_-895000/ . Initially just had padded bars. I put self adhesive felt pads on rear supports and boat slides on and off roof so no more risky lifting. Flexible pads conform to hull. No sideways movement. Halfords...

It edges really well .right over to spraydeck part underwater. A couple of strokes and turns on own axis. I've done Shepperton slalom gates in mine! Rolling is a work in progress for me but looking at you tube video it's fine. You tube for clips surfing rockhopping and a grade 4 White water run.
