I use astral sea wolf. Only problem I foresee with deckbag is separation from boat.Though plb counters that.

Re: Best sea kayak for a novice
I have a Stratos and love it. Tough versatile and very predictable lean angles. You may think it's going to roll but it won't. I've done large chunks of Thames and some surfing in Devon.( search you tube ) I played around £350 for a good second hand one. On a budget you can't go wrong.

I had one but never used on sea. It got me proficient. Very stable edges easily. Good outfitting. I upgraded to a dagger stratos .it's a different kettle of fish. Twin hatches and deck lines have me confidence in sea and surf.

Re: First drysuit....
Totally agree with above. Got typhoon ps330 drysuit second hand . It's a great piece of equipment as used by RNLI. I find I never bother with my Palm zenith separates now. Typhoon fabric less boil in bag than Palm which can't cope with sweat I find. Now venture out in conditions I would have avoided...

Re: First drysuit....
Difficult to say really.if socks too big you'll need bigger shoes as I found out myself. If tight you'll possibly need size up as again you'll need a thermal sock inside . I wear some Palm neoprene socks over drysuit sock as they're very prone to leaks e.g from gravel or stones. I always favour loos...

Re: Typhoon drysuits : technical data
I got a typhoon drysuit and rate it very highly. Breathability far superior to my Palm cag ( boil in the bag and damp from sweat ) I looked at a lot of reviews and all rated highly.add on the fact that the RNLI use them.

Re: Condition of new SOT Kayaks...is this the norm?
I wouldn't have accepted a credit note. They're archaic. Under the sale of goods act something you buy has to be fit for purpose. A refund or new boat of equal value would be the least I'd expect. Any self respecting company should honour that in my opinion

Sounds like oil canning. Commonly caused by overtightening straps when boat on a roof rack. If mild it can be sorted using hot water on area and it pops out.

Re: How do I re-proof a drysuit?
I put in bath with grangers hand hot and use a sponge on bad stains . They do a reproofing bottle that doesn't need the heat activation. Dry any latex and leave on a coat hanger over bath to air dry. Worked on Palm cag and Typhoon drysuit
