Contact lenses and paddling

Afternoon all Just getting back into a bit of boating again and would like some opinions with contact lenses. Background; I used to use contact lenses all the time, from white water river paddling to surf or sea kayaking. I use the daily disposable ones which I only use to wear on the water, so thro...

Re: Kiss Goodbye to Access?

There are over 6 million public sector workers in this country who are about to get completely and utterly betrayed over their pensions and shafted like they have never been before. So 6 million people will be voting labour in the next general election.....that should swing it..... and we will get ...

Re: Access on the Hampshire river Avon......again

Jake, how do you get back from the wave? do you carry on into Fordingbridge? Can you paddle back upstream? Or do you have to get out and walk round the feature and then paddle back upstream? If it's the latter how does this effect things? As it is access over private land, and to say the the Derbers...

Re: Access on the Hampshire river Avon......again

Yes it is a public footpath but you do have to go off the footpath a little to launch. The weir was awesome but no photos im afraid. the weir is not really known by any paddlers so we need to get it publicised because I beleive it is the best playspot in the south at the right level! Are you sure t...

Re: Stern Squeeze

So its similar to pushing away with a stern rudder when breaking out? My understanding is that it is the other way. "Squeezing the soap" (between blade and boat in a rudder position) is an expression I have heard when trying to balance the pressure on the blade. Usually when breaking into big water...

Re: Your best day on the rivers in 2010?

Suffered a bit from "the fear" this year, so best days have been few and far between. A lack of paddling opportunities and a relative increase in swimming had/has twisted my melons somewhat. I especially suffered on my return to Norway this year. However with some coaching from Nick Horwood of Gene ...

Re: Waist belt throw rope question

Can anyone else provide a compelling reason to regularly carry the rope around the waist ? Depending on what I'm paddling, I'll wear a waist line. There are a few reasons why I do, the main one i do is probably laziness, ie getting out inspect rapids is quicker (no stowing/unstowing), and easier (h...
