Re: Spanish Pyrenees Camping?

Not paddled the river, but have looked at it. In a supreme irony, I was in that area doing an event called the "Vince ". This like orienteering on motorcycles. The irony was one of the guys in my team was on the exact opposite journey to me! He was a coaching standard white water kayaker, but had re...

Re: BC's new Access Charter

Sounds very similar to the NERC act that decimated the legal use RUPPS, [ ROADS USED AS PUBLIC PATHS ] by LEGAL trail bike riders. All through the discussions with DEFRA we were assured catagorically that this " would never come to pass ", " no need to campaign, there'snothing to worry about ", hist...

Re: How do I re-proof a drysuit?

I can't help with chemical re-proofing as I've never had any success with it, whether it be on tents, motorbike clothing or drysuits/cags. However, it's worth investigating whether you've got individual holes in your suit, as opposed to the material going porous. I've been buying used military drys...

Re: Use own boat or course provider’s on BCU 2* ?

Just did mine a couple of weeks ago. I used my own [ older ] kayak, though to be honest most of the people with me used our club boats. Of as much importance is the kayak being kitted out with enough air bags to aid recovery. You don't have to roll it for 2* so just being able to paddle, forwards, b...

Ah, hence one our coaches on the Dee recently bellowing to a young paddler who had just taken a swim " Don't walk , don't walk, swim to an eddy". Potentially life saving advice.
Glad to hear you're still around and able to dwell on it, and pass on some useful advice.

Re: Would you fit two creek boats in the back of this?

I have the T5, I would say for travelling, yes the shorter creekers will fit in because there's no bulkhead fitted. However, you would need a cover for the seat backs, to stop the boats chaffing at the upholstery, and, they would have to come out for sleeping, so would need securing to something out...

Re: Inflatable kayak some white water and touring - I’m clueless

All good suggestions there,I would add that nearly all of those mentioned are a fabric skinned tube. This may be an issue if you're travelling around by car. Ideally the kayak needs to be really dry before putting away for any length of time otherwise the dreaded mould sets in. The Sea Eagle [ cheap...

Re: Inflatable kayak to carry bikes and 2 people...info needed

More expensive, but a possible solution might be the Gumotex Twist in Nitrilon light. They weigh in at about 12.5 kg. They can be sourced for under £400.00, but you would need 2 of them. They do fold up small, and carry about 180kg each.Their rubber coated inside and out so are wipe dry, and reasurr...

Re: British Canoeing - Trespass Policy

It would need some sort of an angle that would cast "us" as "not the villians of the peace ", but that the public at large were able to empathise with, "us " being the Davids, and the establishment and vested interest groups being shown as the "Goliaths ", we are just merely, exercising our legal ri...

Excellent, though I suspect the vested interest beneficiaries would perhaps not be persuaded, to share, the natural resource without a sustained reminder that not wanting to blatt the living daylights out of natures bounty is not the only way to enjoy it.

Re: British Canoeing - Trespass Policy

Perhaps there's a leaf to be taken out of the Canal restoration society of the 1960's, who even at the threat of legal action determined that their cause was right and just, and therefore they had the moral right to carry on with their self appointed task of making derelict canals navigable again. T...

Spotted, lost blue Kayak on the Dart

Hi All, clambering out of the lower Dart today I spotted a blue kayak of unknown origin lodged up on the weir opposite the get out point, I was unable to retrieve it, but it looks unlikely to move from it's location.

Have you tried pouring some hot [ not boiling] water over the seal? That sometimes restores the latex to it's original size.

Or, buy a quality inflatable, a four part paddle, and then take it with you in a taxi or bus to your digs for the night. Pack light, how much " carp " do you need for a couple of nights out?
