Re: Any helicopter tape experts here?

One tip when applying helicopter tape. Peel off a little bit of the backing at a time and use a stiff plastic tool like a credit card to make sure that first bit is fully stuck down then use the card edge to work down the tape millimetres at a time, only pulling away the backing when you can’t go an...

Re: Any helicopter tape experts here?

Think I’d try a hairdryer to soften the adhesive and then try to work the bubbles out to the edges.

Failing that, maybe a pin prick and suction

Re: Drysuit purchase advice

I’ve got a peak adventure, it’s light and comfortable and well featured, the cinch-band neoprene neck is super comfy all day long and will cope with a swim but it’s not a suit for rolling or prolonged rescue practice as the neoprene will eventually saturate and then get undergarments wet through Cap...

Having trouble removing some footrests: aluminium track, stainless bolts, 18 years old sea kayak Wd40 on the bolts both sides is doing nothing Anything I can try before resorting to an angle grinder ? What happened with this, any success removing the footrests? I cut away a small part of the upper ...

Re: Buying small quantities of GRP materials?

I use east coast they’ve always been very helpful.

Kevlar can be a bit awkward to cut, and dedicated Kevlar shears are pricy. You might want to consider diolen as an option ?

As well as flowcoat you’re probably gonna want some microspheres to thicken it, unless you have that already

Re: Difficulty Removing footrest

Thanks folks a couple of good suggestions to try there, I’d never considered acetone with transmission fluid.

Yep it’s a composite boat.

The angle grinder would be a last resort: cutting off the track either side of the bolt then nibbling away at the aluminium until all that’s left is the bolts.

Re: Norse kayaks from Norway- anyone know much about these?

Idun Although the thigh grips are not adjustable they are in the right place and are big enough to get good connectivity with your thighs, and the footrest system is quite good; you loosen a lever, use your foot to push your footpad to where you want it, then twist the lever down to lock it in place...

Re: Lifeboat shouts up 60% in 2020?

I'd say 100% because of travel restrictions. It doesn't surprise me in the slightest given 100% of sup users I see never wear a pdf, even a lot of kayak users don't. Which makes me wonder why surfers and windsurfers never wear them either?? Re surfers The wetsuit provides some bouyancy andbthe boar...

Re: Oil canning

Causes can vary, but storage pressure points on the hull can be a common cause, as can Regularly overtigtened straps, particularly if it’s a hot day and kayak is on a car roof for a long time, leaving the hull keel side down on a flat garage floor will put pressure there, ..things like that Cure: I’...
