Cutting LH cranks to set as RH

I have been recently been given a set of carbon cranked sidekicks. Only problem is they are LH. Does anyone know if it is possible to set them up as RH if they are cut down the middle and reset with a new spigot? I have heard rumours but would appreciate any further information
