Re: The Dee in a Day

Cheers Simon, yes should be a great little adventure, I've wanted to paddle the aquaduct at Llangollen for years adding the run out from Chester seemed to give it a bit more purpose. Starting on the 26th if all goes to plan.

The Dee in a Day

Well, not all of it! I'm planning a circular tour from Chester later this month. I have 4 days in which to complete the route. Day 1 Chester to Nantwich /start of the Llangollen canal. Days 2 and 3 Llangollen canal to pontyscyllite aquaduct. Day 4 is the query??? First question is it possible to pad...

Re: WANTED: P&H Scorpio mv / HV.

Still looking!

Additionally are there any Scorpio owners out there who'd let me have a look at their HV / MV boat - preferably somewhere along the Cumbria/ Cheshire corridor.

Cheers all.

WANTED: P&H Scorpio mv / HV.

I'm hoping to find a decent 2nd hand version of the above, ideally Corlite X but I'd be happy to consider standard construction for the right price and location. Am based in South Cumbria, but willing to travel a reasonable distance - somewhere that doesn't price a second hand boat out of the market...

Re: Canoe Hire Ardeche

Try asking this question on the song of the paddle website / forum - dedicated open boat forum with lots of folks who have paddled in Europe, there are probably even some members who live locally. Good luck.

Re: Dagger stratos or perception essence

Hi Martyn, Wouldn't the Perception Expression be the boat which is more comparable to the Stratos? The essence is a longer 16 or 17' boat. From what I've read people are happy with both boats and they will pretty much do the same thing - maybe it's a case of keeping your eyes open for the best deal ...

Re: Help please ! :-)

Have you considered a SOT kayak? You could carry a reasonable load and they will handle bad weather much better an inflatable. It'd be perfectly happy lashed to the deck when not in use. For£250 I reckon you'd get sorted easily, there always seem to be plenty for sale on the various FB forums or on ...

Re: P&H Scorpio V Perception Essence

Once again helpful comments which continue to confirm that the Scorpio would be the better boat, but the Essence is a good second choice. Ideally I'll be aiming for second hand as I generally feel that a good used boat represents better VFM, consequently future purchase will depend on what's availab...

Thanks for the feedback - once again positive comments about both boats and once again the Scorpio just seems to edge it!

P&H Scorpio V Perception Essence

The Scorpio seems to get some excellent reviews and from what I can tell is a boat that would fit my requirements well. However for a few hundred quid less the Essence also seems to be a good boat - I currently have a Carolina (and coming from the same manufacturer) which as a relative newbie to the...

Re: A man for all seasons, a boat for all waters?

That was an impressive bit of paddling! I've seen the Stratos up close and it is a grand looking boat and was right at the top of my list last year - however made a head over heart decision and bought a second hand Carolina for a great price. I wonder how much better a slightly longer boat - Wildern...

Re: Walney island. South Lakes newbie

Hi Andy,
Another Furness and Lakes paddler here. Based in Barrow I regularly paddle the Lakes and local coast, sometimes even with Mr Magee who I see has already said hello. Any time you fancy a paddle drop me a line.

Re: A man for all seasons, a boat for all waters?

That's an interesting option, seems to be similar to the Zephyr but longer, but also significantly more spendy, an extra 1/3 on top of the other options.

A man for all seasons, a boat for all waters?

I'm looking to add a 16' plus sea / touring boat, predominantly for use on the Cumbrian lakes, coast and estuaries. Most recently I've been considering the perception essence, the venture Jura and on most days of the week the leading contender is the Wilderness zephyr. As well as regular paddles as ...
