Re: Permit etc

Cleethorpes Hi folks advice please. Do you need a permit or insurance and do you need to let beach safety know your going out, Thanks So, I can completely understand why you’re under the impression of needing permits and insurance before launching from Cleethorpes. My old man lived a stones throw f...

Bergans Ally boats

Contemplating buying one, and wondering if there’s anyone here that has direct experience of them. The kayak rack is full, I’ve had Mad River Royalex in the past and though tough it was a heavy and large thing to look after. SonF kayaks aren’t new to me as I’m the keeper of my grandfathers JSmk6 pro...

Re: Paddling the Great Glen in Winter

I had to shelve this plan, my Dad became much more seriously ill and I lost him on the 7th of March. I’m wanting to return to Scotland in winter so, best pressurised liquid fuel stove? I have my redoubtable Svea123 ( originally dad’s) and a Manaslu 96 great things but need cold weather mods, suggest...

Something I’ve noticed is that they all appear to have skinny arms, surely something designed to go over kit would be better served with broader arms?

Beaufort/ Reed / tuiliq or bothy jacket

Looking at getting one of these, though has to be 2nd hand ( personal principles and budget) I quite like the Howard Jeff ones especially as it packs down hence ideal for deck bag stowage. I’m going to be paddling all winter and granted I wear a dry suit but cold weather paddling appeals to me, Wint...

Re: Nordkapp HM - my impressions^

Just looked on Reed Chillcheater cockpit size guide and I note the Nordkapp Ocean cockpit is a different shape and sizing to the Anas Acuta Ocean cockpit ( which I have )and my spray deck fits snugly which may mean another purchase, hmmm more thinking to do.

At 6’1 1/4” with 10 1/2 -11 feet I’m wondering about picking up a older Nordkapp.
I do paddle a Anas Acuta, it’s a little cramped but advantages outweigh comfort.
Thoughts please

Best stuff to stick foam to hull

I’ve used sticky back foam, sticky Velcro and still they come adrift, I have foam patches on seat and inside cockpit of both my Skerray Ecxel and Anas Acuta to make the comfier, snugger and to reduce wear on my suit. Needs to stick to old glass and be cheap so figure silicone may work, experience fr...
