Re: Inflatable Kayak for Sea

I've no experience with the Sea eagle but after a few years of owning a Gumotex Seawave I can tell you that they're great kayaks. More expensive than many boats but tough and built to last. Surprisingly quite nippy on the water too. Another great selling point is Gumotex''s are singled skinned so qu...

Carbon Paddle

I've been considering upgrading my basic standard euro paddle to a carbon paddle but there seems to be so much choice on the market. I quite like the look of the Celtic pro range and wonder if anyone has any feedback on them. I also like the Werner range although they are expensive. I'm after a ligh...

Thanks for the advice. I tried helicopter tape but unfortunately it did not stick very well at all. It's great on my mtb though.

I will try Keeleazy.

Re: Side Sculling Advice Please

Thanks everyone for the ideas and tips. I guess the main reason i would like to be able to master the scull or balance brace is because if i get tired after practicing rolls and re-entries I sometimes blow my roll. Being able to scull/ balance brace as some have said would allow me to catch a quick ...

Keel Protector on Corelite PE Kayak P and H

I've recently noticed a bit of wear on the end of my kayak which seems to be due lifting it on end when loading on my car. Just wondering is there any good products that I could use to provide some protection. I tried plain old gaffer tape but it came off too easily. Has anyone tried Kealeazy on a C...

Re: Which PLB do you use? Is it waterproof?

I use a fast find. As I always keep it on me and as I roll regularly in the sea I'm now keeping it in a small dry bag in my pfd pocket. It may well be waterproof but a bit more protection just in case.

Side Sculling Advice Please

I'm just wondering does anyone have any tips for side sculling. I can do the basic scull but as soon as my head and body enter the water my paddle sinks quickly followed by me. I see these great videos of people floating on their back next to their kayaks and it looks so easy but it's not. As soon a...

Re: Rescues and letting go of the boat

On the few occasions I've been out kayaking solo I've also used the spray deck to attach myself to my kayak. I have previously tested the setup at a nearby lake using a dive mask and rolling and wet exiting. The dive mask just helped me to see what was going on with the tether. The only time I had an...

Re: Fitting Bilge Pump to Delphin 155

Allan Thanks for your help with the link problem. Well here''s some footage testing the pump in the bath of all places https://youtu.be/n_l4-YT5eK4 For info it uses an air switch and is powered by a gel battery as per the one I use in my kayak. The pump is an 850 gal. The pump body is slightly large...

Hi. I just had to contact one of the administrators as I've no idea how to attach images. As soon as I learn how to do it I'll post some images and video. My pump is really quite a rough idea based on some of the ideas of this forum but it would be great to see improvements and ideas to the concept....

Re: Fitting Bilge Pump to Delphin 155

Its great to see so much interest in fitting electric pumps on this thread. I think the main benefit of them is safety but for personally I found mine to be really helpful when learning to roll For me learning to roll was made so much easier because i could empty the cockpit without going to the sid...

P and H Kayak Water Leak

I have spent considerable time trying to identify where the water is leaking from including replacing the rear hatch cover which was done under warranty and sealing holes myself in t...

Re: Head gear for winter paddling and rolling

I was going to ask the same question. I wear a 3mm dive hood which is great for practicing rolling in the current cold conditions in the UK. However I have to wear a dive mask to seal out the water or else the water gets into the hood. Freezing. Also would be interested if there's a hood or hat or s...

Just to confirm it's the sweep roll I'm using. I'm a keen follower of Kent Ford's methods, teaching. I also like to use the Pawlatta occasionally as I can really slow down the sweep and concentrate on my technique more. Anyway thanks to all of you for your excellent advice PlymouthDamo. Hi Alec Flexibility and strength not brilliant but not too bad either. I'm 16 stone 6ft2 so sometimes wonder if that maybe has something to do with my problem though. Just to say your setup looks brilliant. A very professional
job. In fact it looks like it was done at the factory. Well done. I'm guessing you spent some time researching and sourcing your parts
Have you had plenty of opportunity to test it the last few weeks.

Re: Fitting Bilge Pump to Delphin 155

As others had warned me after 6 or 7 outings in fresh water and one in sea my switch has started to fail. My pump started operating in the off position during my last trip to Arisaig. Still, it was worth trying and at least it went when I was with a group of fellow kayakers so no big deal Im now goi...

Re: Foam Bulkhead Holes

I've got the older Delphin and my rear hatch also leaks. When it was new it was quite bad but this was due to a problem with the rear hatch cover. I've had it changed and while I've still got a bit of a leak it's not too bad now. A word of warning about the line holds the hatch cover though. I was i...

I know this is a basic question but what us the best way for putting a hole in a foam bulkhead for wires. I thought about drilling but I've heard that there's a method using rod that's perhaps better. Thanks for advice.

Re: Fitting Bilge Pump to Delphin 155

Thanks both of you for your feedback. I've been kayaking for around 8 months now so unfortunately at the moment my roll fails about 25% of the time so I'm just wet exiting pulling out the hose and switching on the pump, empty my kayak before I do cowboy re-entry. This works quite well for me although...

Delphin Corelite Version Reliability Hull P and H

I have an opportunity to get one of these kayaks at a good price. I believe it's the older Corelite version so it's been heavily discounted. The only issue is when I check these boards I just hear the words of woe about cracking and difficulty repairing the shell if damaged. I'm just wondering if an...
