Re: Are you better at kayaking if you do other adventure sports?

I think learning to learn is a big factor as well as what Yew said about understanding edges etc. Decent kayakers (and particularly us C1 paddlers) become very self aware of what is happening to the body at any given moment, allowing you to change it if it doesn't work (is that call proprioception o...

Re: Critique my roll?

I would say you looked nice and calm, good position and set up which is a great place to start. Focus on the initial flick of the hips a bit more rather than a slow pull on the paddle. Your paddle is just there to give you that initial bit of resistance, the longer and more slowly you pull on the pa...

Re: Only Allowed 2 Boats

I would keep my Loki because it is the most fun boat I have ever owned and then I would want something slightly longer with more volume but converted to C1 for running bigger rivers, maybe one of those pre-converted Zets?

Re: Access and facility charging at Canolfan Tryweryn

I completely agree with MikeVeal's point. Essentially, CT's business is charging people to cross their land. We pay the money because doing so enables us to access some great WW. The sweetener is that you get somewhere warm and dry to change if you want to use it, a hot(ish) shower, toilets with bog...

have you been to la Seu d'Urgell? There is a pretty cool site there used for slalom and if you are passing it would be worth a paddle.

I think that riverapp has shortcuts to other handy sites in the 'More' section at the bottom, don't know if any of them are any use to you?

Much needed Advice from BC

Glad to see BC and British Rowing getting together to give useful advice that we would never have thought of ourselves in the Guidance for Rowers and Canoeists on Shared Water. "If there is a danger of a collision...If all else fails, shout "STOP" several times, very loudly." Thanks BC and BR, my go...

Re: The best boat in the WORLD!

gp.girl- boats like the Loki are great for adding challenge without needing to add too much to consequences. I didn't want to go down the route of paddling ever larger rivers and drops as it is addictive to me and at some point would end in tears so I push the difficulty/challenge by paddling a lowe...

The best boat in the world is the Loki because it is hillarious. You can't help but grin like an idiot whilst you tail squirt your way down stuff.

Thule Wing bar vs Whisp Bar

I was looking at getting a new roof rack and want the wing bar style so that it doesn't matter too much if I leave them on the car during the week when I am not off paddling. I stumbled across Whisp Bars, they seem to be massive in America and claim they are the original wing bar with better perform...

Re: Soft Roof Bars, How many boats

I can second what Poke says, on a trip to Oz (3 x slalom c1s and a k1) we sanded the hire car's roof paint with the roof rack. We also dinted the roof/ made it concave from tying on too tight, that wasn't too much of an issue though, we just got two people inside the car to put their feet on the roo...

Lake district- how much rain needed?

Hi all, just after a bit of advice on how much rain would be needed to raise some of the lake district rivers eg Leven, kent etc from the scrape they currently are to a level worth a day out tomorrow. The weather forecast seems to think there will be some rain overnight around there but I have no id...

I have the whitewater carbon blades on straight glass shaft and love them. If you are in a rocky place it may be worth looking at the glass blades which I hear are bomb proof.

Service is unrivaled and paddle angle/length is completely customisable.

FS Galasport Ninja C1 Profi Construction £250 & New C1 Paddle £120

Hi All. Selling my old C1 slalom boat. It is in good condition, never had the tail broken. Slight ding on the deck where I caught the edge of the paddle once going onto crossbow but it is very minor. It's profi spec which means it is carbon kevlar with carbon sections for rigidity. Cut for around 75...
