Re: CRUZ aero bars

I bought Whispbars for my 3 series and they are fantastic, very very quiet and easy fit.

Re: Help regarding liquid logic remix 69

I drove 70 miles to K&P the other week after calling the afternoon before to be told they had both a 69 and 79 in stock only to be presented with a 59, completely uninterested staff and with a shrug of the shoulders told "well we've probably sold them". I remarked how it's a shame they can't demo on...

Re: Axiom 8.5 advice

there needs to be a 8.75. an 8.5 for me at 85kg was a fairly wet ride and a 9 was just too big. Looking at the volumes of both the axiom and gt's I think thats where the remix might win over with 69 gallons, the others jump from 59 straight to 79 and I seem to sit right in the middle when I have pa...

Re: Axiom 8.5 advice

Liquid Logic Remix 69 - 8' 8" and paddler weight > 109kg, front doesn't look too low and looks like a nice boat, think I need to sit in one of these.

I am an XL and just bought a Gul Evo 2 for less than £40, nice helmet that fits well.

Re: Axiom 8.5 advice

Sat in a Z one last week and that felt pretty tight in the feet area as well which is a shame as I do like the look of them, maybe a second visit and a bit more time fiddling with it needed. At the moment the GTX max is front runner really even though that feels like in an ideal world it could be sa...

Re: Axiom 8.5 advice

Thanks for the replies - I sat in (or tried to) an 8.5 this evening. Weird as I have read reviews of blokes 6.2 with size 12 feet paddling them and I couldn't get in it. Admittingly the guy had a load of foam on the foot plate but it was on its furthest setting and the tigh braces felt sooo low. Shi...

Re: Axiom 8.5 advice

Reading a few reviews online and a couple have mentioned how the 8.5 boat seemed fine with 100kg paddlers and was plenty spacious for 6 '2" and size 12 feet, even though it's rated to 85kg. I guess these are only guidelines as like I said I sit in the lower 3rd of weight for a 9 and thought it felt ...

Axiom 8.5 advice

6' 1" size 11 and whilst 100kg now aiming to lose a few in the coming month. Paddled a 9 the other week but even at 6.1 it felt almost too roomy or high around the thigh grip area and felt like I was sitting a bit low in it. Nice amount of space for feet and handled well. However I quite fancy the i...

Barle - Simonsbath to Withypool

Quick question from anyone in the know - when does this section get too low to paddle, can it be paddled all year round or is it aleady too late. Would like to do a few miles on some easy(ish) moving water.

Other than the Wye ...

... name some nice rivers in England or Wales where you could spend a few days on moving water without too many weirs and rapids camping as you go. I am returning to paddling after a longtime away and think I like the idea of this the most and the Wye is hopefully a few days in June this year.

Re: PFD - Do you ever paddle without one?

Thanks for the replies and as I said, yeah I would wear one on anything other than a canal and perhaps if I was having a go at some small surf as from what I remember we didn't years ago because they were a bit restrictive and made swimming harder.

PFD - Do you ever paddle without one?

Returning to paddling after many years and yes of course I would wear one 90% of the time, but is it normal and really necessary if your having a gentle paddle on a canal, or is it very much frowned upon to go on any water without one these days? I had a gentle mooch along the canal for a couple of ...

Re: From rock gardens to rivers - advice please

This is exactly the tread I was going to start, same interests and same choice of boats. I’ve tried the fusion and the stratos and would lean towards the stratos however prefer the idea of a boat along the dimensions of the Jackson but as said it’s expensive. My local shop in the SW only appears to...

S or L Stratos

Looking to buy a Stratos in the new year for canals, estuary, slow river and coastal. Can't imagine I will be carrying heavy loads 99% of the time. 6.1ft - 98 kg Reckon I need a large or better off with slimmer, lower small - is there much difference ? Small would still give me 55lbs of luggage if n...

Helmets

Might seem like a daft question from someone who is returning to paddling after 30 years but, does everyone wear a helmet now? We'd never have even thought of them back then and it would seem a tad strange now. I can see why you would on white water (but again never did back then) but is it expected...

Canals Rivers Estuarys & Inshore - What to buy?

After spending much of my youth on the water I have decided some 30 years later to get back out there. As the title suggests, nothing too demanding and living in the SW I have a fair selection of all to choose from. A year or two back I paddled a new Easky 13 and am kicking myself now as I haven't s...
