Re: Best paddle for surfing
I am 5'6" and have been surfing boats since 1999. I very quickly went short, very short, and now have 2 paddles. One is 175cm, the other is 168cm, both with 20 degrees of feather. I think the key thing you can see in this thread is that we all have our own personal preferences, which are unlikeley t...

Re: Surf kayak do I need one
If you do get one, which you should if you are even halfway serious about truly surfing (not just spinning about in the soup), be prepared for a steep learning curve. I know guys who've had litteraly decades of WW experience, who assumed they could paddle anything, who have given up on surf boats be...

Re: Flying to the US with a surf kayak, which carrier?
Just a thought, do you just put your boat in a travel bag (padded), or do you add extra padding around the boat?

Flying to the US with a surf kayak, which carrier?
Hi guys,
Anybody got a recommendation for the best carrier if you want to take a surf boat to the US? I notice that BA don't take kayaks.
Thanks.

World Adaptive Surfing Championships

Re: Quad fin Neutron RV in excellent condition.
No, the Neutron was built as a quad, there is no centre box. I've converted both a Short RRS and my Edge, it's not hard to do if you have a bit of confidence/experience working with cloths and resins. I'd be happy to give you a little help if you ever wanted to try it, photos and lessons learnt will...

Re: Quad fin Neutron RV in excellent condition.
I think the simple reason that manufacturers don't offer quads is simple, but two-fold; 1) They don't understand them and 2) Kayakers don't understand them and so don't ask for them. It's very easy to experiment as a board surfer, because you can go to your shaper and get the exact board you want ma...

Then go to Sennen, if it's flat there it's flat everywhere. If it's too big/blown out at Sennen you can easily reach the other side of the coast from there, round Penzance way.

Re: Newbie fin question?
Kind of, it's an acceleration through the turn, that feeling of speeding up as you go through the turn, you accelerate towards the centre of the turning arc.

Re: Newbie fin question?
You'll have less drive through the turns, especially bottom turns, but it should flow really well from rail-to-rail. Of course, a lot depends on the design of the boat too, I've not surfed an Element, but that's a generalisation for any boat running quads; all asymmetric = loads of drive but a bit s...
