... buy a copy of "Norfolk Broads Canoe & Kayak Guide" by Steve Maloney, you can get this from Amazon. I know you're sorted OP, but for anyone else like me, that never buys anything from Amazon, you can get it here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Norfolk-Broads-Canoe-amp-Kayak-Guide-by-Steve-Maloney-97...

Someone is going to get a really nice kayak at that price. I thought you loved it Simon... or did you love it so much, you had two of them?

Re: Fast fitness kayak - surfski?

Thanks chaps. Food for thought... will continue chewing until I get my tax rebate. Hope to demo a couple of K1's next week.

Nice to hear from Chester, too - lived thereabouts for most of my life, but it's nice down here in Ye Olde Cotteswoldes.

Re: Fast fitness kayak - surfski?

Thanks ^^^ - That's interesting because I've seen a guy on the river in a K1 (didn't get chance to speak to him, he disappeared so fast!) and have looked at them online, but didn't understand much about them, or the stability thing. They are super-lightweight, which is definitely a plus. I know it s...

... a personal recommendation would be a p and h scorpio.... This one's come up a few times in conversation so I am heading towards P and H - thank you. Just got to find one now! Don't rush into a Scorpio. Yes, they get good reviews, but there are as many people who can't understand why. A Scorpio ...

Re: Kayak or Canoe for larger person?

Do like I do. Buy a canoe, sell it and buy a kayak, sell the kayak and buy a canoe... and repeat, repeatedly. Please DON'T buy an Expression 11 or anything else based purely on the cockpit size. I had an Expression 11, I'm 'only' 15 stone and it had too little volume in the bows... every time I trie...

Re: Best sea kayak for a novice

I have a Wavesport Hydra that is super stable, quick for its size and not too heavy to handle off the water. Lots of 'deck height' so the knees can be bent up a little - I find a lot of kayaks a squeeze and my legs and feet easily go numb. It's a similar thing to a Stratos, but personally I think it...

Re: swap - wenonah prospector 15 for prospector or solo plus 16

Did you post this on 'another' forum? I'll give the same answer anyway. The Solo Plus is a totally different beast to a prospector, with a turning circle that can be measured in kilometres and quite unresponsive when paddled solo. I hope you've tried one... I did (to scratch an itch) and bought an A...

Douglas Wilcox has been using a Think Zen surfski ... It is a more stable design than the out and out race skis.
That's probably what I'm after - nothing too radical, with good stability. Thanks Jim.

Re: Fast fitness kayak - surfski?

PS. The other thing I realised this week, is that a 25kg kayak is not as easy to portage as a 25kg open canoe... another thing that might be in favour of a surfski.

Fast fitness kayak - surfski?

Hi all. Hope I'm in the right section of the forum. I've been flip-flopping between open canoes and kayaks for the last couple of years, not really knowing which I prefer (and not really being able to afford both at the same time). I recently bought a Wavesport Hydra and have spent this week blastin...

Low angle paddle wanted

I'm looking for a 215cm low angle paddle, two-piece.

Werner Camano would be nice, but open to suggestions.

Can meet within reasonable distance to the Cotswolds, otherwise please be prepared to post.

Please PM with description / condition - no need for photos until we get serious.

Thanks,
Arthur.

Re: Should I get a Valley Sirona RM or a Zegul Arrow Play? (Nuka?)

I had a Sirona RM and composite, both 16.1. I found them a bit tight at 5'10" and 90kg (all muscle of course!)... my point to OP being the 16.1 Sirona would probably be a good fit. It'll be too big for OP, but I now have a Wavesport Hydra which I've literally just taken out on it's maiden run. Like ...

Anyone selling a Wenonah 15ft Prospector or an Argosy? Any layup considered. I know they are different beasts, but I've owned both, so I'm aware of that. Must be in excellent condition and within 100 miles of Cheltenham, but I'll travel further for one that's next to new. Please PM. Thanks! PS. The...

Wanted - Valley Sirona, or similar

Anyone got a Sirona 16.1 that they want, or need, to part with? Composite preferred, but RM might do. I'd prefer one in tip-top condition. Might consider something similarly versatile, for coastal day paddling and improving - I'm 90kg 5'10" with chunky thighs. (I had a Sirona last year - liked it, ...
