Lost Mania paddle, Upper Dart, 20 March 2020

I carelessly let go of my paddles whilst in a less that upright position on Euthanasia on the Upper dart on Friday 20 March. Said paddles ran part of the river without me and then disappeared. The paddles in question are a somewhat beaten up set of black Manias with the remains of yellow reflective ...

Lost paddles, Upper Dart. 11 Jan.

Hi all I lost a set of battered Mania paddles on the Upper Dart yesterday, (11 Jan). They were last seen about 100 metres above Euthanasia Falls. They have many distinguishing marks that I could describe to you should you find them. We’ve had many misadventures together and I would like to have a fe...

Re: Shopping at Sea kayaking Scotland? Beware.

I have just returned from a very enjoyable holiday on the Isles of Scilly where me and my N12 blades paddled for 6 consecutive days. I can report that contrary to SKS advice these blades are not too heavy and that I have no aches and pains from using them. So, to sum up, my knight in shining armour ...

Re: Shopping at Sea kayaking Scotland? Beware.

I have taken delivery of a new set of paddle blades at nil cost. I was having a conversation with a gentleman involved in the paddle industry and decided to gauge his opinion, so I narrated my experience and asked this gentleman whether he thought I was being reasonable or not. My intention was simp...

Re: Shopping at Sea kayaking Scotland? Beware.

My thanks to Alice and Jamie for their replies. Judging by the earlier reply from Tom, coupled with Alices’ experience, I have either been unfortunate or mis-guided depending on your point of view, and I take on board Jamies’ comments that the final decision was mine. (Are those apostrophes in the r...

Re: Shopping at Sea kayaking Scotland? Beware.

Julian, Thanks for your reply. I will just clarify a few points for our readers. I ordered N12 blades because according to the information on SKS website: This paddle has N12 (nylon) blades which are slightly heavier than carbon but are ideally suited to paddlers who are much harder on their blades,...

Re: Shopping at Sea kayaking Scotland? Beware.

Tom I am deeply jealous of your experience with SKS, it seems like a different world to the one that I have stumbled into. My reason for posting this is to save anyone else from having an experience similar to mine but I realise that I may have just been unfortunate, so I’m wondering if are there an...

Shopping at Sea kayaking Scotland? Beware.

Hi all If you are looking on the internet for kayaking equipment you will very quickly come across a business called Sea Kayaking Scotland, website address http://www.sea-kayaking-scotland.co.uk/ I have recently had the misfortune to purchase a paddle from this site. With hindsight I feel that I was...

Re: no longer lost Mamba, river Tavy

I have now been nicely re-united with this boat, thanks to the efforts of the fire brigade who fished it out of the river in Tavistock. As an aside I called the police single number line (101) at the earliest possible opportunity to report this boat missing and to stop any search should a member of ...

Lost Mamba, river Tavy

Hi all

I lost my green 8.6 Mamba on the Tavy this morning. (8 Jan 2015)

I know that it has travelled below Harford Bridge at Peter Tavy.

I would be grateful for any information that may lead to me to getting it back.

I can be contacted via 07854 648584 or 01752 344425.

Cheers
