Re: Squeezing into a surf kayak

I’m 6’2” and 95kg and have a megatron which fits fine and feels much like my ww boat in fit. Am not a hardened playboater or surf kayak though and found I couldn’t fit comfortably in the neutron or scarab so decided to go large.

Isle of Coll - Advice as holiday destination please

Hi Douglas, So inspirational! We are in the final stages of booking a 1 week stay in August. 5 of us, 3 surf boards, snorkelling kit, 3 sea kayaks, 1 or 2 inflatable SUP and a surf kayak :) Next will be to work out a second week somewhere camping the week before not too far from Oban. Possibly Ross ...

Re: Isle of Coll - Advice as holiday destination please

Hi everyone, Thanks for taking the time to reply. The message seems to be consistent- great beaches but loads of surf on the west. Access on the west feasible but not so easy. We’ve spent a week on Tiree but we’re looking for something a little wilder. I think maybe we’ll just do a week and see what...

Isle of Coll - Advice as holiday destination please

Hi, We are considering a family cottage holiday on Coll this August. Plan would be to accommodate surfing and snorkelling for the kids but also take sea kayaks. What we are scratching our heads over at the moment are launch options. There clearly are a couple of slipways with good access but to get ...

Re: Caves between Caswell and langland.. info..

Sounds amazing. I grew up on the beach at Langland and have been along the rocks at low tide between Langland point and Whiteshell point many times as a kid.Have also boated it, sailed and kayaked and cannot think where it might be except maybe just east of whiteshell where the path rises. Will have...

Re: Bullitt S vs Ride Eclipse, how do they differ?

To my. The megaton is I believe just a larger version of the scarab. More leg room and higher load capacity. I'm 6'2" with long legs and couldn't fit into the scarab but at 90kg should have been ok for weight. The important thing with a surf kayak is at least to try for fit before buying. And better...

Re: Anyone have experience mounting Karitek Easy Load on Ford Tourneo Custom (or Transit)

Thanks! Managed to speak to Karitek and they basically said that with standard 32x22 bars it would be fine. Main issue seems to me to be that the wide Karitek plus j-bars has an all up weight of about 30Kg apparently and the ford max loading on two roof bars appears to be 100Kg (130Kg over 3) . So d...

Anyone have experience mounting Karitek Easy Load on Ford Tourneo Custom (or Transit)

We're considering buying a Ford Tourneo Custom (the 9 seat version of the transit I believe) it has fixpoint fittings to mount three roofbars. Has anyone got any experience mounting a Karitek Easyload Roofrack on a 3 roofbar Ford - like the Tourneo or Transit. Waiting for a response from Karitek at ...
