Water level app notification

Is there an app, or which is the best app for delivering notifications on when your favourite rivers have hit a runnable level? Ideally id like to set which rivers and which levels im notified about.

Thanks.

Waterproof speakers

Can anyone recommend a good waterproof speaker? Good battery life, just takes an SD card playing MP3, and is easily fastened to a grab handle. Guess it needs to be waterproof for up to a meter or more... assuming the boat keeps afloat. Have done the vibration speaker in a dry hatch. Doesn't cut it. ...

Re: Bow/draw strokes

Thanks for all the replies. I had it in my head the bow draw was pulling the front of the kayak towards the power face of the blade, which after reading the replies I think I had the right idea. I kind of use it to catch eddies and peel out if I need to pull the turn in quicker. I think I'm using to...

Bow/draw strokes

Is there any good videos on carving, bow draws or draw stokes for whitewater situations? Or even just good written advice? Were just moving on to buying dedicated WW kayaks (Crossovers prior) and these vertical 'carving strokes' have never seemed to do much. I hope to understand it once we have our ...

Re: Specs or contacts?

To reduce water landing on glasses, would 'rain X' not work? Ment for car windshields but I use it on my Gopro when paddling, significantly reduces the chance of a drop staying on the lens. There's also a mist preventer version, can be bought as a set. Don't wear glasses myself but may work? http://...

Not in the boat anyway, for reason mentioned. In the BA, in a dry bag. I have a little plastic loop in the BA pocket, I could use a little carabiner to link the dry bag... but I dont bother.

Re: software for editing gopro footage

I like Premiere Pro.

If you want to be able to crop your image a bit more and keep it looking good, try filming in a higher resolution. Gopro hero 3+ black does 2.7k at 30fps and I think the hero 4+ black does 4k at 30fps. You can get away with cropping these more.

Re: Numb feet

Id remove the foot plate altogether or push it way down so her feet are not touching it. Have a little paddle and see if her feet go numb. If not then you know the problems there are can keep trying adjustments/foam. If they still go numb then perhaps try removing the hip pads and so on. Some boats ...

Re: Bouncing boat

Different Js suit different boats. Have one strap go under the front of the cockpit rim and the other go through the lock loop AFTER GOING UNDER THE RACK BAR.... that's a point, go under the rack foot, not through the bottom J loop (assuming your right by the edge of the rack bar). I have my Katana ...

Can't complain at that. Glad your sorted. Decided yesterday I wanted my leg lifter a little higher than the max as my knee fell out the thigh brace during a flip. Re: Kayaking gadgets

Forgot about my music plans! So I managed to secure a 'vibration speaker' to the upside of my old Dagger Axis, which was loads of fun when I combined the speed with easy continuous rapids. But my new Katana doesn't let it stick so much. Now I intend to glue one or two inside the dry hatch but would ...

Kayaking gadgets

Now I understand these are unnecessary items... but I'ts just the way I am... This little puppy allows me to hook up to a tree branch, another kayak or wrap it around my paddle and throw it on the bank as an anchor. Suits those times when you stop for a break. But keeps snug and tight when not neede...

Re: Dagger Katana

Thanks. Mostly the Tweed which has huge flats inbetween weirs and rapids, right at my back door and runs all year so thats why I went for a crossover. There's some Tay and Yarrow in the video too. Not had it on the sea yet but spent lots of time on Loch Lomond.

Herd back from Dagger yet?

I'm assuming you thumped down on the screw driver to free the screw around the cockpit? The seat does take a bit of a beating to move. Have mine as far forward as possible to compensate for regular gear. I can't remember the whole routine for moving the seat offhand but I'll have a look later if nob...

Wee flaring/surf video

Usual trying to figure out new moves on the Tweed. Little Yarrow, Tay, lower Nevis and Teviot to dilute it. Will end up breaking the link once I seperate the kayaking from the ferreting channel but I'll update it. Kayaking vids are unlisted. Fails from the start of the year first. But made good prog...

Low degrees feather paddle

Anyone know somewhere that stocks a decent number of quality 0-30 degrees whitewater paddles? Doesn't seem to be much choice about when looking lower than 45. Been using a 45 but can get a bit of pain in my right wrist on long journeys - Nothing major, I can continue on and ignore it, but don't like...

Youtubes usually fine if you 'acknowledge 3rd party content'. But I've had one video go down due to the song and I'm not sure why exactly. On paper should be ok though.

Passed it today. 0.45 level. Could duck underneath it on the right but that could be very nasty when the waters a little higher. Looks like there's been mesh strung along the bottom of it and its still there on the left but if whoever decides to repair it will create a major hazard. Not many eddies ...

Legalities of altering water flow

Just wondering if anyone knows how much trouble we could get in for moving rocks to alter a rapid flow? On our summer low water run rapids are few and far between but there's a pair of surfing waves where we spend a lot of time. If it spits you out or if someone swims we need to carry back up but I ...

Re: What do I replace my dagger axis with?

Started with an Axis nine months ago. Was great for lakes and easy river touring but I soon outgrew it, wanting to play more on grade two rivers and take on some three. Took on a cheap second hand nomad for the higher grade rivers but still enjoyed the Axis for the lazy local run. Start of this year...

Yeah that's the place, If the waters a bit higher than it is in the video the first wave disappears but the second gets nice and big. Had a wee surf on them yesterday, bit if it spits you out it's hard to get back on... for us anyway. Nice video, what level was the water? We usually just run the mak...
