Re: french alps snow levals

currently in lockdown in the Bourg Saint Maurice area and can tell you there's still masses of snow above 1850 metres with some more forecast this week (possibly). The Briancon area also has masses of snow so all those French classics, the Guil,Ghisaine,Durance etc should be in fine flow May/June,jus...

Re: Alps water levels 2019

Hi
I'm based in France and use www.rdbrmc.com for water levels, easy to navigate and up to the minute for most french rivers, there's also www.eauxvives.org for river guides (english version by clicking on the top right hand union flag). Hope that helps!

semi-dry to drysuit

Hi all, has anyone tried adding latex seals to a glideskin semi-dry suit (Palm Spark)? Will the glideskin/latex interface hold ,and with which glue?
Thanks in advance!

OC1 help

Hi all, I've just got my first oc1 (drop zone) and would like to ask some pretty basic questions: I'm kind of hovering on the top of the saddle but struggling to get lower on my old knees, is it better to add some foam till I can sit or is the raised centre of gravity an issue? Am I supposed to be c...

changing from kayak to OC1 (whitewater)

Hi all, thinking of getting a whitewater OC1 for a change from kayaking,am based on the Isere river in the Savoie, rapids class 2,3,4. Would welcome any input on the suitability of either a Covert 9.3 or Hou dropzone. I'm 6'2 and 90kg. Given I'm starting from scratch any advice welcome. Thanks.

Re: A bit of career advice?

Hi, think anyone following this route needs to be mindful of potential Brexit implications with companies like PGL,Mark Warner etc. They're no longer going to be allowed British qualified instructors abroad or will be at the mercy of work visa negotiations. Also the financial model used by these com...

The huge boulder in Millennium has been dynamited, though it's still lying in large pieces on the river bed,not a spot for a swim!!

30 vs.45 paddle angle

any thoughts on whether changing to a 30 degree paddle from a 45 might help with elbow tendinitis? Is it difficult to adapt?
Thanks. ML1850

Very happy with my little Fujifilm XP. Two years use kayaking and still going strong. Fits easily in most buoyancy aid pockets,as well!

Met Parachute helmet

Saw a guy wearing one of these on the river last w-end,seems like a good option in terms of weight and price. Anyone got any thoughts on "crossover" potential in helmets? Thanks.

Re: French Alps River Levels

Was there at the w-end, the levels were best for the Guil and the Ubaye. The Onde,Gyronde and Gyr were too low. It was cold though and warmer weather is forecast from the w-end.

Re: French Alpes driving info

The Gorges D'Arly between Chamonix and Albertville is also shut for the near/long term future. The diversion is windy and narrow enough to be a pain in the arse for anyone towing a trailer. If heading for the tunnel for Italy (Dora Baltea, etc.) would recommend passing by Chambery or Annecy.

WRSI Pro Current + Cinch

I'm interested in buying the WRSI Pro Current helmet with the Cinch attachment but a paddling friend told me that the Cinch gets worn quickly and doesn't stay in place very well. Any thoughts/feedback? Thanks.
