Are BC increasing the registration fee from £12 to £36 as part of the changes?

if so, is there a reason for this?

Re: Slovenia Car/van rental

Update: Just returned from Slovenia after an excellent weeks paddling. Levels were low and dropping though. Great location for our mixed ability group. We arrived at Treviso Airport, which is some way from Venice. But it took us 2 1/2 hours to get to Bovec. Initially the car hire was a nightmare, no...

Re: How to reshape a bent kayak nose??

I have removed several significant dents using the hot water method described.

I would say use lots of boiling water and be patient, it takes time but gets there in the end.

If you see white lines marks its permanently damaged I think.

Good luck.

Yep, same plan as big Phil.

We have tried to book one with roof rails on, but they won't guarantee this.

So we are taking our own roof rack and sorting it when we get there.

South Lakes Levels this weekend

Hi Lakes folk.

We are heading to the lakes this weekend.

What is the Duddon like at 0.65, is it a scrape and going to take ages? Did it a few years ago but can't remember the level.

Hoping that rivers will come up a bit if not Saturday, Sunday.

Thanks

Re: Smelly kit

I rinse mine in cold water in a large rubble bucket, then hang outside on the line until dry or almost dry, sometimes for a few days, drys in the end.

Then finish off hanging in garage. Never gets smelly.

Advice or recommendation.

5 of us are flying to Venice Airport then driving to Bovec.

We have 4 boats.

Can someone recommend a hire company where we can get a roof rack or suitable van.

Thanks

I registered our club with the centre, we have Canoe England affiliation. Then it's half price for all our group. We went a number of times last year. I just ring up in advance (not really sure why, no one seems to know you have when you get there) state approximate number of paddlers. When we arriv...

Funny you should say that Jim,

We are booked in at lotus lodge (http://lotuslodge.co.uk) at Wanlochhead at the end of Feb.

Have been a few times before, paddled the Nith and the Doon, will look at your other suggestions for there.

Paddling the River Eden (lakes)

Our club is heading to the Lakes next weekend. There are about 30 of us staying in Keswick.

I am thinking of the Eden. Can someone update me on this river?

Are there issues with access?
Can it cope with 30 of us?
Are the rainchasers levels a good indicator?

Thanks

Suggestion do your own shuttle. Even run it from bala its not that far. It's more about expectation. When signing in an on the hour shuttle was confirmed, plans were made on that basis. If it's take your chances, then you know you need to organise shuttles. I just think they need to be clear on the...

Our club runs a six week beginners course for new members with little or no experience of paddling. We limit numbers to six so ratio's are good.
