Re: River Hull - Driffield to Beverley: WARNING!

Always fancied this paddle. So on the strength of this guide and a YouTube post from April 2017, a few of us tried it in a mix of Canadians and kayaks a few days ago. We put in the canal at Wansford and paddled north towards Driffield to swap to the river at the point suggested in the guide to retur...

Re: Palm Cag Quality

That all makes sense. I'd heard Palm had outsourced production to China.
Meanwhile my Sidewinder trousers seem as good as ever!
Shame really. But it's what I suspected.

Palm Cag Quality

Just wondering if anyone has bought a Palm cag in the last year or so and what the quality is like? I have a Palm Flow which I bought 2/3 years ago. After about a year, the tape on the interior of about 50% of the seams detached from the jacket. I complained to Palm and to their credit, they offered...

Re: River Bollin - Manchester Airport to Ashley Road

Which gauge do you look at for the Bollin? There only seem to be ones on the Mersey a fair bit upstream

Re: RIVER WEAR (Bishop Auckland to Sunderland Bridge)

Did this in Canadians yesterday. It had rained heavily the night before and as a result, we had what was the almost perfect trip for open boats. The levels were up. Quite a fast flow all the way with a continual series of Grade 2 - and quite a number of short G3 rapids. I do think we were lucky with...

That's exactly the spot I was thinking of Pete! Maybe its a case of being quick and discrete!

Re: Lower Conwy (Llanrwst) experience?

Yeah - I've read the Fishguard exchange and am aware of the court case. But I thought that referred to an area of the river higher upstream? Wondered if anybody had any recent experiences. There is a Canoe Club in Llanrwst and I was hoping they would be able to advise but as yet I've not got an answ...

Lower Conwy (Llanrwst) experience?

Does anybody have any advice on paddling the lower Conwy ? I was thinking of maybe Llanrwst to the sea.
I know once we get within the tidal range, we should be ok, access wise but I'd like to know if anybody has any experience of putting in a bit higher up?

Re: Wanted - Dagger Reflection 15 (or 16)

Woah! Sounds like a lucky escape there for me! That kind of damage really wasn't apparent from the photos and the distance to get it would be about the same for me.

Looked like a bargain - but now I can see why!

Thanks for the feedback - much appreciated. I don't think I'll need the number :-)

Re: Wanted - Dagger Reflection 15 (or 16)

Ta - I've seen that one. It's perfect and I keep e-mailing the seller but can't get an answer from them. I suspect it's already been sold and they've just not bothered to remove the ad.

Wanted - Dagger Reflection 15 (or 16)

Bit of a rarity these days but I'm looking for a Dagger Reflection 15. Might consider a 16 at a push also.

Re: ESK (Egton to Sleights)

As a follow up, does anyone know what the ownership situation is at the road bridge in Egton Bridge? There is a gate and a path down to the river on the south side. Having looked at a local fishing forum, it implies that the vicinity of the bridge is not in the Estate's ownership. Any more info woul...

Egton Bridge - MAJOR ACCESS HASSLES!

So last Saturday, we decided to paddle down from Egton Bridge to Whitby. A trip we have done on several occasions before. We encountered major opposition from the owner of the Egton Estate, his wife and his son. They declared we were breaking the law, would get lawyers involved and would damage fish...

Re: ESK (Egton to Sleights)

Having done this run a couple of times now, a group of us did Egton Bridge to Whitby this weekend. Fantastic paddle but got some grief from a farmer at Sleights. Gave us the classic "Get orf moi laaaand" bit complete with sweeping arm gestures and much pointing. He declared that we weren't allowed u...
