Re: Lofoten - the drive

Thanks guys. Though it doesn't inspire me....especially as I'll be doing the drive solo. At least I'll be in my van so sleep en-route easily enough. I'll be going to Flatanger on the way back for a few weeks which will hopefully break the journey up a bit... Just got the guide book to Lofoten. Wow. ...

Lofoten - the drive

Thinking about a trip to the Lofoten Islands this summer.

Will have at least a month so thinking about taking the van but I'm not looking forward to actually driving there.

Anyone done it? How bad?

Cheers

Sometimes you can't avoid side winds but luckily we all drive in the same direction as the kayak is facing so we already unconsciously reduce wind resistance.

Re: Toilets at Ulva Ferry

I’ve been asked for clarification on which area of parking is used by Turus Mara. It is the long strip of hard standing on the right as you approach the ferry area and clearly signposted along its length, as per the hopefully uploaded sign. The end of the strip nearest the ferry is used by a fisher...

Re: Toilets at Ulva Ferry

Parking: There's a legitimate objection to parking on private land without permission, particularly if that's obstructing conduct of a business, and if polite requests fail some threats may be necessary. I guess that is kind of true but when the parking is limited and what there was free to other u...

Re: Toilets at Ulva Ferry

Has anyone had problems and or aggressive behaviour from this Iain Morrison recently? Is there still a problem at Ulva ferry with parking by sea kayakers? I'm surprised that the SCA published this without challenging the threatening tone of the email. I parked there for a couple of days in Septembe...

Re: Tendinitis - advice?

I have suffered with assorted tendinitis, both golfers and tennis for years. Off and on. Usually brought on by doing too much. Mainly training at the climbing wall, sport climbing and going too hard, too quickly with out warming up properly in tide race paddling. Warm up warm up warm up. Stretch tho...

FS - P&H Delphin 155 Surf Spec

Hi, £650 Another one for sale as I can't get 4 sea kayaks in my garage and I'm doing more touring these days. Yellow, the usual scrapes on the bottom and a few gouges in the nose but otherwise all good. About 4 years old, hatches seal pretty good though not bone dry. Some silicone helps. I've remove...

Leaking hatches Tiderace explore hardcore

UK Rivers collective wisdom, My wife has a second hand (not particularly well looked after) Tiderace explore hardcore layup. ALL the hatches leak. What I've tried so far: Colour coded gelcoat bead around all the edge of the hatches and the deck. This looks good (?) New hatch covers for two. The larg...

Uprights for Rhino Roof bars

Hi, Looking to get some Rhino roof bars for my van, as I want to use the roller system that they sell but can't seem to see any uprights that might fit. The Rhino bars are quite aerodynamic in profile so just a straight parallel plate mount like on the Palm uprights probably not going to work that w...

Re: Broken Valley Etain Seat

When you fix it try drilling a small hole at the end of the crack to help terminate it and stop it propagating more.

Could also try a Methacrylate adhesive as opposed to a normal epoxy to glue it as well.

This helped when I broke my Ndk seat in my Explorer.

Re: Cosmetic repairs on a composite boat?

Is that the main difference between gel coat filler and a gel top coat?

I used gel coat filler on mine, and while its done a great job and set rock solid it won't shine up?
