Re: sea paddles

Hi I also have a Perception Scooter. Started off as a play boat but started going further afield in it and covering 8+ miles in it. Although after this distance it can be tiring as it's obviously doesn't cut through the water like a proper tourer or sea kayak. In addition in a little bit of chop it ...

Re: Anyone used a Vertical Element touring paddle?

Well after debating this for a while and getting some good positive emails from VE I have now ordered a 210 - 220cm split carbon shaft with fibreglass blades from VE. From the reports and feedback I don't think I'll be disappointed. And with the adjustable shaft they will suit me in my current SOT a...

Anyone used a Vertical Element touring paddle?

The time has now come to buy a new paddle (straight shaft 220cm, 1-PC). I'm not going to get a chance to try before I buy, so right now am torn between Lendal Kinetic Touring (with N12 blades) and the Vertical Element Explorer (carbon shaft and glass blade). I have used a 215 Lendal and suitably imp...

Kendal - Veriswitchlok

I am after a new paddle for my sit on. I recently purchased a Kendal touring from someone on this forum but my GF liked it so much I've let her have it. There is a chance I'll be trying or buying a sea kayak in 2014 so I want a paddle that will suffice for both. For my sit on a 220cm seems ideal and...

Dolphin Tracking

I managed to get out for a couple of hours this afternoon in Torbay (launching from my local beach at Goodrington). Within 15 minutes 3 dolphins swam by and I was able to track them right in Broadsands where they played around in the bay for 10 minutes before managing to swim well under me (un-notic...

Warmer footwear for sea faring SOT

Hi all My first post after watching this forum over several weeks since buying 2 SOTs for use in my local bay (live at Goodrington in Torbay). I'm sure we wont be using these all year long but would like to extend the season until late October at least. Have a decent summer short sleeve wet suit and...
