Yes that is a fairly standard release I've done it a few times at that level and found it worth doing. (I've never paddled it at any other level)

Vrynwy has a gauge that you can see on rainchasers here. The current level indicates a release. I don't know of any way to find out in advance but it releases fairly consistantly this time of the year I think.

Met someone who told us we weren't allowed to be there when paddling the Seiont a few weeks ago. Was from the bank when we were half way down though so all fine.

Hitching is good.
I've hitched shuttles on Conwy and Llugwy (getting lifts from non paddlers). Wnion is also hitchable too.

There are no access issues on the Dee so get on based on where you want to paddle. The public car park near horseshoe falls is free. Getting on at JJs cost £3 per person, gates are now locked in the evening after the place closes. There is car park in town which is a fairly cheap pay and display. Al...
