Re: car keys
stuff it under the stern, between the float bags and hull I've read a number of stories from people who have put keys and phone in their boat, swum and lost the boat. I prefer to have them on my body (if I lose that, they don't matter!). D'oh! Hadn't thought about that. I never get out when it's th...

Re: car keys
Could get a waterproof box for the phone and keys, and stuff it under the stern, between the float bags and hull. Tie or clip it in to something just to be double safe.

A yoga block can make a good back rest and they're easy to find.

Re: Wanted: Surf Boat for taller paddler
I'm 6'2 maybe 6'3 on a good day, 250lbs and with size 13 feet. I can squeeze into a Bullitt S, so that or a Banshee might be a place to start. I'd check out an IC boat for fit and volume as well if there's any around.

How do the long boats do in medium and bigger stuff, like chest high to head high?

Re: benefits of a long boat?
Been wondering the same thing, being a bigger guy living near smaller waves, if something like the Ghost would get me a little more speed and foot room than my current Bullitt S. Or if the Banshee would get me a little more room, some speed, as well as some better ergonomics for a big guy. Feel like...

Re: Mega Bullitt S Padded travel/flight bag
Interested as well, but I'm stateside. I'm inclined to check out a rolling coffin style surf board bag, hoping the airlines will think it's a board, as kayaks are not permitted on many airlines. But hard to shop around for a big item like that before pulling the trigger and know exactly what will wo...

Re: Kayak recommendations please
I'd second either the Banshee or Bullitt S. I'm almost 18 stone or 113.something kg, pretty much an advanced beginner, and can squeeze into a Bullitt S. Have a Megatron that I hardly ever use because where I am in the states, we seldom get waves good enough for an HP boat. The Bullitt gets out more ...

I've always thought about a plastic skid plate for kayak touring, for moving a fully loaded boat solo over rocks or sand. Something like a thin cutting board that can be attached under the boat with a few cords clipped to the coaming, or seat, or wherever; use it to "pull" the boat, and then easily ...

I've often wondered about one of those little battery powered pumps. Re-enter and roll and let the pump empty out the boat for you while you brace. Would be great to get out that little bit of water that always seems to make it's way into the boat as well. Probably too heavy and complicated to be ju...

Alerts a company of an emergency and reports your GPS location to be sent along to the closest first responders. Got one after I had a kid to appease the wife.

Re: Gath rv helmet
Trying to save money I've bought so many crap helmets that are either uncomfortable and or break, my next one will be something quality, even if I have to spend a little bit. The Gaths look sweet, a little Jedi, but nice. Nice and low profile for the surf zone.

Re: Larger paddler, longtime kayaker, which first surf boat?
I'm 6'3 and 16.5 stone and fit fairly well in the Bullitt S. No problems at all with my size 13 feet either, plenty of room. I also have a Megatron which is really roomy and comfy. The Bullitt works for a broader range of conditions, especially the crappy knee high stuff we often get nearby. Was get...

I worked as a NOLS instructor down there for four courses in 2008-2009. A lot has happened in my life since then, so unfortunately I've forgotten a lot of the details. We were based out of Coyhaique. The first two courses for October\November we chartered fishing boats out of Puerto Aisen to drop us...
