Re: Straw Poll - new club for those interested in Greenland

From my limited experience can I suggest a change in technique. For me it works best when my knuckles are behind the top edge of the blade with my thumbs just hooked on the end of the loom. The paddle naturally rests in the hands and is easy to relax the grip on the upper hand. Plant the blade at an...

Re: Straw Poll - new club for those interested in Greenland

Just after Christmas my brother in law (cabinet maker) asked me if I knew anything about greenland paddles. My response was "Not a lot...... They're expensive." He took some measurements from me and has since whittled a greenland paddle for me! So as the proud owner of a red cedar/oak greenland padd...

Re: Kayak build and strength

My understanding is that composites are only as good as the boundary layer between its filler medium* and bonding medium**. Any air bubbles will weaken the structure. Vacuum bagging strengthens the composite by reducing/removing air bubbles and improving the adhesion between the two..... I hope that...

What about a chinagraph pencil like:- http://www.transair.co.uk/sp+Black-Prop ... encil+4667

and a sheet of laminated paper?

I use an A5 laminated paper velcroed to the bike tank when we go touring. Just a thought :-)

Re: Sea paddling partner(s) - East Anglia

Hi Richard

If you let me get up to comparable levels of training and then some I will happily to be your paddling partner. Have you considered joining West Norfolk Canoe Club? You can find them on facefook. The club secretary Andy is the man to contact.

Regards

Mike

Re: carry-able surf kayak bag

We have a local boat cover maker that may be of some help to you.

You probably have someone closer that does a similar thing though.

West Norfolk

Hi everyone. Just a quick note to introduce myself and find out what's happening in Norfolk. My name is Mike and I'm a newbie, just completed the 1* course at Mepal and hope to complete the 2* in November. Once I get some practice and training under my belt is there anyone in the WN area that's into...
