Re: Playboating at sea - Does anyone carry Flares?

when sea kayaking I take two parachute flares, a smoke flare, a vhf and a PLB when surfing at my local river bar I usually take a vhf especially if I'm alone. You don't "need" a licence if your life is in danger. for 50 quid you at least get to tell someone you are getting swept out to sea; as long ...

Chillcheater discount code

Does anyone have a discount code for chillcheater they usually give BCU members a 10% discount.

The SCA look like they have one on their members section :-)
but I'm a canoe England member :-(

Re: Fitting fing to a plyboat?

No it is a cheap old school playboat/river runner It looks a bit like a perception boat to me but is made in China If I can find some polythene fin boxes I'll be able to get them welded in - but I would like to know if there are other options http://media.supercheapauto.com.au/shared/images/229191.j...

Hi Asmar You really have two choices cheap - which will be heavy - none of your guides will use these, which should tell you something. your clients may notice you have been cheap with their kit not so cheap circa £100 starting to look and feel better http://www.canoesandkayaks.co.uk/product/2985/Ty...

Re: Yet another towline thread [Tiderace Xplore S]

I have a fair lead at point B

it interferes with turning - imagine the fair lead was at the stern
trying to turn would be a mare, it is also quite a problem when it is at point B

Where do you put the paddle in a rudder stroke? probably between A & B

Point A would now be my choice

play/river boat for surfing

My G ride is proving a bit short for surfing my local break so I'm after a few suggestions for a playboat or river runner that would make a good surfboat. I'd like one of these http://api.ning.com/files/PEvZHreEH*sAR1tzR5i4sKppVBRCHtLJ2vuuSg9UU9R9kLcJK-YHocHjt-8NJ8y7FaNHXvWpn8pD5LPfA5UtyUx1POckJ3j7/...

Re: Level 2 Coach Assessment

Really you need to assess the students and do what they need You can ask where they want to get to but don't ask what they want to do. My lot were training to be level 1 coaches and had no real interest in paddling (strange as that may sound) so I taught them how to get a canoe up to speed as fast a...

The main issue I had with the Plastic Romany was the glass cockpit rim, it leaked like a sieve. This was in a hire boat, if you have your own I'm sure you could repair it when it leaks. Romany's have different seats, the original was part of the cockpit rim Karitek often cut these out and fit a much...

Do a google for foam kayak building http://www.ptone.com/Kayak/surfboat/building/shaping.html You could use the templates from your kayakfoundry design and make a foam sandwich which you could then sand and shape to a smooth line. Obviously you would need to decide whether to make a female mould fro...
