Re: Kokatat Maximus Centurion Quick Release Threading
If I recall correctly (Because it's been a while) this maybe due to the way those vests are certified using US coastguard rules, where specs and user instructions are submitted as part of that process. There was a nominal quantified value I've heard quoted for the pull force it was certified to exce...

Re: Kids helmets -- which one?
When my kid turned 3 I bought him a Sweet Blaster (S/M) to replace the Bike helmet that was the universal helmet we used for all sports upto that point. In truth he's a very big kid for his age and whilst the helmet fit well with the supplied foam plus adjustment, he could still manage to get the ch...

Re: kids BA vs spraydeck
One factor for me (And I'm generally still paddling with kids younger than 7 in a duo) is the potential panic/entrapment factor that a skirt could bring, so generally always using an oversized snapdragon skirt with the tube doubled over outside the BA so they can easily push and swim out leaving the...

Re: Kayaking holyday to Idaho
We'll the advice you got from Dave is excellent then. Avoid any internal flights in the US if you are bringing boats. Your best bet is probably Virgin Atlantic (unless they changed their baggage rules recently) ...that would mean San Francisco, Las Vegas or Seattle direct from the UK. All 3 are long...

I'd try graphite ...i.e take a regular pencil and scribble all over that joint (That's probably exactly what is in the product in Stowels suggestion)

Re: Just for fun........
Okay let's analize the risk. Water will be reasonable temp (most year round). At 30 ft into aerated water, risk of injury from flat landing minimal. Deep pool with no big rocks to avoid. The only (and very) significant danger is the drop just below with the super holdy hole. But safety set up and r...

Re: Another tragic kayaking fatality in Nepal.
I've lost way more friends to the river than I have fingers to count. Many of these I learned about promptly via social style media, especially when they occurred in far flung places. This is the nature of the kayaking diaspora and for this information I am thankful.

Re: Czech Republic for our summer trip?
I've paddled a lot in the Czech Republic in various seasons. There is natural flow paddling in the Northern Mountains bordering Poland and in the Southern Mountains bordering Germany/Austria that's decent quality. There is also paddling in the those neighboring countries immediately over the borders...

Re: Foot entrapment
In ~25 years of kayaking I've never seen a foot entrapment. I was on a WWSR course recently and the instructor said that it was so unlikely it had been dropped from the syllabus. Clearly, from this story, it can happen, but is it a major risk or one in a million? It always seemed to me that it woul...

Pretty sure Dagger in the US are still an imperial sized thread, not metric. Can't speak for licensed Dagger made in UK though.
Why not buy some regular nuts at your local DIY store...see what fits then order accordingly. Or ask Corran on FB/email.

Re: Who is the most iconic current paddlers
I would like to paddle with Sam Ellis (whom I haven't crossed paths with yet) I briefly met him in Switzerland, a few weeks back. Seemed a nice enough chap, but the main topic of conversation afterwards was whether the shirtless wall of muscle we'd just encountered was actually Ragnar Lothbrok. He'...

Re: Who is the most iconic current paddlers
Ha! This is such a subjective topic. First off I think that "The best paddlers" doesn't in any way translate into the "The best to go paddling with". For me personally I've paddled with or met on the river more than half of those named so far in this thread. They have at various times represented th...
