Re: The best play weirs in the UK (that aren't Hurley)

Knightwick weir on the theme just outside Worcester is good for surfing / flat spins, deep enough to cart wheel and loop on higher levels.
not worth visiting below 0.38 and gets messy / nasty above 1m.
we use it for beginners on levels below 0.5

Re: Alps Italian/france boarder Parking

Hi guys thank you for your replys, If you look at the t+c's (I have looked at multiple countries) they state that there is an insurance surcharge for going across the boarder. So basically if I am in france and have an accident I would not be insured. at a cost of 20 euros a day. which is one of the...

Re: Milan car hire

dont bank on it. I had a friend who tried and they where somewhat unhelpful. If there is only two of you look at getting a set of inflatable roof bars and then as long as the car is 5 door take out the full insurance packages and then go play/ Id recommend phoning them before you leave, the local si...

I have hired a car and i will not be taking any kit on the plane with me. To avoid paying a stupid amount of money taking ...

Re: Blingy Gear

We get fleeced for Kokotat in the UK. I managed to get round it by getting the full spec Gore Tex one via Canada. This came to £550 rather than £1000! Have you looked at the cost of importing one of the suits ? once you look at the import tax and what not its very close to what they are charging us...

from my experience out there that time of year there are loads of brits out there boating.
all happy to help and most will help with shuttles.

Where abouts are you stopping ? Argentiare slarlom course camp site normally has a large group of brits / uni students camping.

Re: Tryweryn pay and play

the cost of Lee valley is paying for the pumps as well.
Lee valley is expensive compared to Cardiff or Hpp.
The tryweryn is gonna be more expensive then Ciww and Hpp.
its just basically a con to get the membership numbers up so they can plow more money into competitive boating.

Re: Tryweryn pay and play

personally i think £15 a day is stupid money !
the club i am a member of use the Tryweryn for training and bring new members to experience white water.
at that price i will not be going there.
Its almost as if they want to force people to join CE/CW/CS etc from which i see very little benefit.

my first drop was on the gam at the very top. in mid wales. its across the road from the get out for the Mawddach at shit house falls. its a really simple lead in. clean line and deep pool at the bottom. Runs after a bit of rain. only down side is its a good hike up the hill with your boat. The fall...

Re: bow stall conspiracy

It's one of those moves that took me over 12 months to work out. Some times it's the size and shape of the boat that restricts it. The plowing endo is easier in moving water and at Hpp coming out the the eddy river left after the inlet and paddling forward leaning forwards then looking up as your bo...
