Re: Sweet rocker delamination

Its not the material lining though it's the complete foam inner shell of the helmet that has detached from the outer shell.

Re: Sweet rocker delamination

So the outer shell (carbon) and the inner shell have totally split from each other. You can see where the glue was meant to be stuck and no longer is.

Re: Sweet rocker delamination

thanks. Not expecting an instant reply, but given it's out of warranty not holding my breath they can help. Wanted to more understand if anyone had experience of similar issues and if anything can be done to fix the issue and keep it safe. Think it might be a new helmet but really don't want to coug...

Sweet rocker delamination

Hi folks. Ive got a sweet rocker that has literally just passed the end of warranty and i noticed that its started to delaminate. The inner and outer shell have totally seperated making me think its time for a new one. Anyone else had a similar issue? Helmet is well looked after, dried naturally awa...

Re: Inconsistent assessments at LVWWC - money making exercis

A checklist of BCU awards is the obvious thing to do, a paddler with 3 star is possibly still in need of assessment on the Grade 3 section, a paddler with 4 star should be able to paddle on grade 3 without an assessment but not the Olympic course. A paddler with 5 star should be capable of navigati...

Re: How to reshape a bent kayak nose??

Hot water works. Used it a few times. Hang it from a tree from handle/broach loops and poor in lots of boiling water. Make sure you use remove foorplate and step out pillar. Ones the boat is warm enough use a brush handle or bit of wood to prise it out. Last time i did it with our club boat had to f...

Nylon Decks wanted

The club I'm a member of is looking for some old Nylon decks to keep us going till we try and get funding for new Neo decks. Just looking for something old and free (or very very cheap) to keep us going till then. Anyone got anything. Preference to be Scotland to save courier fees.

I wash my gear regularly in nikwax and then retreat. It helps with the smell and re waterproof the fabric. Regular washing help the material breath too.

It's pretty much 50/50. Whatever you do in a kayak you do in a canoe.

Re: Splitting 2* CW facebook

It's not about diverting it's about presenting options. What I'sm saying is certainly in my club it's the go to option very rarely is the question asked so it's maybe not seen as an option. My concern is that anything canoe goes in the same way as 4 & 5 star and UKCC assesments. Currently most clubs...

Re: Splitting 2* CW facebook

Separate 2* awards - nice idea and then wannabe coaches need both 2* awards before moving on to UKCC Level 1. My worry is that once that has been conceded there might be a movement towards separate coach awards - UKCC L1 kayak and UKCC L1 canoe...... I'm sure I remember something similar earlier th...

Re: Splitting 2* CW facebook

I doubt it would come to the individual members of clubs of the SCA (I'm a club Chairman and have been for 3 years and never seen the club being asked about coaching stuff). I't's more likely to come to the coaching development groups in each of the regions (there was some sort of chat at the last m...

Re: Splitting 2* CW facebook

I think there needs to be an option, but I also think the BCU need to do something to encourage participation in both crafts. For example looking at most of the central Scotland clubs you'd probably be lucky to find half a dozen coaches that would want to coach in open boats meaning the scope to lea...

Re: Splitting 2* CW facebook

I see arguments for and against this. If you had asked me 6 months ago I'd have said split it and not even thought twice about it, but recently I have started coaching and now working towards my L2. As part of this progression I've had to learn open boat which I initially was frustrated about, but n...

Just to be clear, there is a difference between being prosecuted for criminal negligence and being sued for damages for negligence. thanks all. So we are going to give the big bucket of cat litter a try and I'l think I may have sourced some reasonably priced BB fans that come with a 5 year guarentee, hoping that means they will last the test of time. Might try some anti condensation paint on the room so you dont get dripped on a...

Re: Kayak storage - shipping container

Thanks. Yeah had a look at GKCs but any time I've been in the fans haven't been going, not sure if that's cause there isn't enough power generated to keep the battery charged in the winter or because there is a timer/switch not been turned on somewhere. My thought for ours is to put a 2 x 230v fans ...

Kayak storage - shipping container

The club im a member of has recently bought a 20 x 8 shipping container to store boats. Due to them being full of wet gear I'm looking for others experience of the best way to stop too much moisture building up inside. There's certainly nothing like that I have ever came across for Scotland, and to be honest I cant really see a huge benefit in it. Re: BCU MWE changes

So my understanding of this is a 'trainee' coach should be working under the supervision of someone in remit. For example as a trainee L2 MWE I have had 2 years consolidation as an L2 meaning I should have the right level of technical knowledge to be a coach. The MWE endorsement adapts that knowledg...
