Ocean Paddler Magazine Issues 1 - 24

Free to good home - Issues 1 - 24 of Ocean Paddler. Great Glossy Mags in great condition, but wife says the bedroom is resembling a library so I'm having a clear out. Too good to end up in the Doctors waiting room, would like them to go to someone who will appreciate them. Can be collected (near Abe...

Re: Replacement for Lendal Powermaster Paddles

Thanks for that Simon, not heard of Streamlyte before - bit out of touch as I tend to do my own thing and don't race any more. They look promising from the website, although I would like to see some 'in the flesh'. Cheers Jon

Re: Replacement for Lendal Powermaster Paddles

Thanks Michiel,

Yes, thats right - thanks very much. I tried to get a new blade some time ago but without success, although I didn't go direct to Lendal - if all else fails, I will give it a try.

Cheers

Re: Replacement for Lendal Powermaster Paddles

Thanks Michiel, I was flipped during a surf landing and the last 6" of the L/H blade folded back, but was still attached. I patched it front and back and it has held up well, but is now substantially heavier than the R/H blade and I don't have total confidence in it either. I have other blades to us...

Re: Struer Ranger K1

Thanks Michiel, Like you, I am hoping to repair with veneer - in fact I've now had a better look and all the veneer appears to be present apart from a tiny sliver which I may fill. It looks like water has penetrated under the deck joints (both sides) and has simply delaminated the veneers. I'm hopin...

Thanks Martin,

I'll make some enquiries - not even sure what the wood is, but I have emailed Struer themselves, so hope to have a bit more info to go on.

Re: *** Wanted **** K2 Marathon Kayak

Hi Mick, My ex K2 partner is selling his boat. It's a Kirton Regina, a few years old now, but very lightly used and in excellent condition - unused and dry stored for the last 15 years. Previous to that it was used predominantly for sprint races and the odd deep water marathon, so no damage or repai...

Replacement for Lendal Powermaster Paddles

I used Lendal Powermaster’s for marathon racing for many years before changing to wings in’80’s and then retiring from competition. Since then I’ve paddled mostly on the sea and went back to the Powermaster’s, not wanting to use wings on the sea. I now need to replace my old and damaged set of Power...

Struer Ranger K1

I’ve recently acquires a Struer Ranger K1, which having removed a thick layer of dust appears to be in almost perfect condition. Unfortunately, there is a small area of veneer on the deck which has lifted at the bow and may need replacing. Does anyone here have experience of working with these boats...

Epic 16x Sea Kayak - selling

Purchased new, 18 months ago for fast coastal fitness paddling (I’m an ex – K1 marathon paddler), this is a very light, fast, yet stable sea kayak, with excellent acceleration and glide and is also a very competent sea kayak, able to handle rough water and with sufficient load capacity for serious t...

Re: Dagger Alchemy 09 vs Wilderness Tsunami 140

Hi Jamie, Rockhopper is right – the Alchemy is a ‘new’ boat, so not many about yet. From what I’ve read, it’s likely to be a sportier option; more a small sea kayak than a tourer and billed as suitable for ocean play and rockhopping. I’m actually considering one myself to compliment my composite sea...

Re: Rockhopper..skegs and things

Hi John,

Pleased to hear you finally got it sorted - sounds like you had a few more problems than me though! The Denwire is really rigid - too rigid I thought initially, but a year on, mine is still working perfectly with no sign of kinking.

Cheers

Re: Dolphins froma kayak?

I paddle regularly around Aberystwyth / Borth coastine and frequently have close encounters with dolphins and seals. The Dolphins that visit the harbour seem very friendly and the lifeboat crew swim with them from time to time. It's a little un-nerving when they swim under the kayak and gently lift ...

Re: Rockhopper..skegs and things

From memory, I would say mine drops by 4 or 5", but will check. I replaced my skegwire which was prone to kinking, about a year ago. I heated the wire next to the skeg (having disassembled) and when hot enough, it just pulled out of the skeg. I then cleaned the hole out with a 3mm drill and Araldite...

Re: Wales

I paddled on Clywedog a few times last year when the sea was just too rough. If you visit the canoewales website, the lakes are listed together with contact details for access. I contacted Ken at the sailing club (details are on the site), who said I was free to launch and go anywhere / anytime and ...

I bought a 16x from Knoydart at the beginning of the year for what you would describe as 'coastal fitness paddling' in West Wales. It's more stable than the 18x, but still quite fast - I wanted 'fast' as an ex-marathon racer, but storage issues dictated a 16 footer. It's very well made and light at ...

Inflatables (again)

Just returned, very frustrated, from a 2 week holiday to Cornwall, sans sea kayak (not allowed by other half due to extra fuel cost and the fact that it would spend most of the time just sitting on the roof rack). She did, however, say “why not get one of those inflatables” (so I could go for short ...

Came across Mitchell whilst surfing (the net) and was impressed. Lance was very helpful and w...
