I think it's just a case of staying away from lochs etc at dusk especially if theres little or no wind. take extra strength jungle formula and some anti- hystemene tablets

one of the lads in my club has a set of straight ainsworth carbon paddles and let me have a few minutes in our local swimming pool with them. really nice set of powerful paddles on par with the opposition but never got chance to use them in anger. not as well known a make as others but 1st impressio...

Life without risk is no life at all. Also! as someone quoted elsewhere:- '100 percent of non smoking, non drinking triathletes die.

I rode motorcycles for 25 years - at least on the water no-ones going to pull out of a junction on you

try a place called cala gonone and up the coast towards the blue marinio showcave and beyond. some cracking sea cliffs and beaches. theres also places where you can hire sea kayaks but they tend to be a bit pricey. theres also some epic caving and canyoning. I've been twice and cant wait to go back....

theres no right or wrong, there's only what there is at the time. This also applies to rescue/ safety. be adaptable and if it works and it's available then use it

I agree with RD scott. you got to be prepared to travel a few miles and even then things might not be in condition as levels in the dales area rise and fall by the hour in some cases. worth checking rainchasers website raingauge for current state of play. theres a boatyard at a place called Bowston on the backroad between Burneside and Stavely near Kendal that does plastic welding. cant remember the name off hand. could be worth trying a local boat yard if theres one near. there are some good videos of plastic welding and lots of tips on youtube
