Re: Correlite X Scorpio HV - dissenting view to OP report

I've got 6 of them and they all leak. I believe they leak from the skeg box (where the mould is for the skudder) but didn't had the time to check properly yet.

Re: Tandem tracking

The real problem that you will encounter soon or later with the Tahe mini tandem is the small blade of the rudder which in waves perform really poor. I've replaced mine in one that I had for a few years and then it was like a different boat in stearing. Without it as the others said is difficult to ...

I know this is a very old post but it pop up when I was looking for something and thought will be good to post some update info. Rod doesn't do rentals anymore. I don't know if this is not in guidelines with the forum rules (if not just delete it) but proper sea kayak rental will be found only in Cr...

Re: French equivelant certification to 4* sea leader?

Hi Peter, thank you for your reply.
I'm actually trying to verify that the certificate "bees 1....." which I've added above is similar in skills with the 4*.
Do you know where it lies in terms of skills/guiding?

French equivelant certification to 4* sea leader?

Hi all, I need some help from someone who is either French or knows French. I'm trying to check if the certification "bees 1 canoe kayak et disciplines" (see link below) is equivalent to BCU 4* sea leader but the online translation doesn't help. The link that most likely seems to describe that cours...

Thanks for the link Richard but I don't think I will try to make it myself as my knowledge is limited in building. Material doesn't really matter as it can be inside the specs I've mentioned above but it doesn't seem to be any.

Re: Kayak build plans for tandem

Thanks for the replies.

Length needs to be less than 5.5 meters as with my trailer and car can't make turns on the narrow streets I'm driving here in Crete unfortunately, plus I will need to get a new longer trailer which is out of a question.

Re: Broken Valley Etain Seat

From a fleet of 30 Valley boats I had during the first 2 years 8 broken seats. This is an ongoing problem, seat is very poorly design, need to be reinforced a lot on both sides as all are breaking there.

Other than that, it is a very relaxing seat!

Kayak build plans for tandem

Hi all, I'm searching to find plans to build a tandem kayak but seems that there isn't any based on the "must" criteria that I have. I'm looking for a tandem plan which is 1. Not longer than 5.4 meters 2. Not heavier than 30kg 3. Not wider than 67cm I've search a couple of companies that selling pla...

Maybe I was just unlucky then? Both the Aries and the Delphin I paddled were fitted with the Mk2 skeg. Both got stuck, both didn't slide easily, one skeg even fell out on the water!! I have had other boats with wire skegs and never had a problem, just thought it was worth highlighting before someon...

GoPRO 3 foggy/very bad focus

Hi all, I've got a GoPRO 3 with the housing and anti-fog inserts but images are really crap. Apart from the first 2-3, once I've been more than a few minutes in the water all images are getting really foggy and also out of focus with a little bit of light. Of course where I've paddle is very warm (3...

Re: HV Plastic sea kayak recommendations please

There isn't any Atlantic HV, just a normal and a LV.
With 95kg and your height you will be too tight on it. The Nigel Denis Romany Surf and the Etain 17-7 RM will be a better choice.

Re: Difference between Etain 17.7 and 17.5?

Also bare in mind that there is no way to glue a foam seat in a plastic boat. It flexes and at some point no matter what glue you are going to use it will go off. I've got both plastic and glass Etain 17-7 and 17-5 plus the Atlantic RM and glass you've mentioned. The Etain is much more stable than t...

Kari-tek easy load 5 kayaks

Hi all, I've seen that Kari-tek now produce a roof rack (the easy load) which can fit 5 kayaks on it. I bought a VAN a few days ago and I was wondering if anyone got the same roof rack on a VAN (less then 2 meters high) and can load himself the boats? Is it possible to lift the 5 kayaks just by one ...

The Malone j-bars are by far the best from all the rest. Lifetime warrany and 1 minute to put them off and on without any tools. Flexible enough the plastic to avoid damage the boat in bad roads. I've done more than 50k with boats on roof rack and never had an issue and be aware that the roads where...

Re: Nordkapp questions

The Nordkapp RM is equal with the LV glass Nordkapp, be aware this. I'm 185, 85kg and fit on both but prefer the normal due to extra space in knee. With your height and weight you should be suitable for both.
