Re: 8 days sea kayaking in Crete, Greece (April 2018)

Hi ! We are thinking of spending one week in Crete in March. I would love to explore the southwestern coast of the island, but have heard that the roads are winding so it takes forever to get to just one of the south coast towns. Is there one town on the southern coast (western half) that would be ...

8 days sea kayaking in Crete, Greece (April 2018)

Hi all, If you want to feel the summer earlier why not joining our April expedition in Crete, Greece. The expedition is planned for April 7-16, 2018. That is 8 days of paddling and we will cover about 200 km. This equates to about 25km/day in 8 days, however bad weather days plus the first and last ...

Hi Mark, thanks for the update. If you don't mind posting a photo with the dry bag and especially with how you padded it will be great.

Re: Kernow Grand Tour

What camera do you use? The majority of the photos are mine. I use Nikon's cheapest and smallest SLR, albeit with an expensive image-stabilised 18-300 lens attached. Which SLR Mark and how do you carry it on the kayak with the big lens? I tried a few things but haven't discovered any easy way to ta...

Re: Northshore Atlantic Question if I may?

Did you ever had the chance to demo it?
I'm asking as I will be extremely surprised if you fit on the boat.
I've got many Atlantic's and paddlers above 185cm 90kg are very tight and feel unstable on it unless it is dead flat.

Re: Correlite X Scorpio HV - dissenting view to OP report

How does the Scorpio HV compare to the Cetus HV? I was set on the Scorpio, but a change of job has made a fibreglass kayak attainable. I'm also interested to hear actual comparisons between the the two HVs. I've got a Scorpio HV Corelite (Not X) on order, which I'm hoping will be ready next week, b...

I've got 6 of them and they all leak. I believe they leak from the skeg box (where the mould is for the skudder) but didn't had the time to check properly yet.

Re: Tandem tracking

The real problem that you will encounter soon or later with the Tahe mini tandem is the small blade of the rudder which in waves perform really poor. I've replaced mine in one that I had for a few years and then it was like a different boat in stearing. Without it as the others said is difficult to ...

Hi Peter, thank you for your reply.
I'm actually trying to verify that the certificate "bees 1....." which I've added above is similar in skills with the 4*.
Do you know where it lies in terms of skills/guiding?

French equivelant certification to 4* sea leader?

Hi all, I need some help from someone who is either French or knows French. I'm trying to check if the certification "bees 1 canoe kayak et disciplines" (see link below) is equivalent to BCU 4* sea leader but the online translation doesn't help. The link that most likely seems to describe that cours...

Thanks for the link Richard but I don't think I will try to make it myself as my knowledge is limited in building. Material doesn't really matter as it can be inside the specs I've mentioned above but it doesn't seem to be any.

Re: Kayak build plans for tandem

Thanks for the replies.

Length needs to be less than 5.5 meters as with my trailer and car can't make turns on the narrow streets I'm driving here in Crete unfortunately, plus I will need to get a new longer trailer which is out of a question.

Re: Broken Valley Etain Seat

From a fleet of 30 Valley boats I had during the first 2 years 8 broken seats. This is an ongoing problem, seat is very poorly design, need to be reinforced a lot on both sides as all are breaking there.

Other than that, it is a very relaxing seat!

Hi all, I'm searching to find plans to build a tandem kayak but seems that there isn't any based on the "must" criteria that I have. I'm looking for a tandem plan which is 1. Not longer than 5.4 meters 2. Not heavier than 30kg 3. Not wider than 67cm I've search a couple of companies that selling pla...

I have had other boats with wire skegs and never had a problem, just thought it was worth highlighting before someon...

Hi all, I've got a GoPRO 3 with the housing and anti-fog inserts but images are really crap. Apart from the first 2-3, once I've been more than a few minutes in the water all images are getting really foggy and also out of focus with a little bit of light. Of course where I've paddle is very warm (3...

There isn't any Atlantic HV, just a normal and a LV.
With 95kg and your height you will be too tight on it. The Nigel Denis Romany Surf and the Etain 17-7 RM will be a better choice.

Also bare in mind that there is no way to glue a foam seat in a plastic boat. It flexes and at some point no matter what glue you are going to use it will go off. I've got both plastic and glass Etain 17-7 and 17-5 plus the Atlantic RM and glass you've mentioned. The Etain is much more stable than t...
