Re: Irish Sea crossing from Campbeltown?
Not exactly the Campbeltown route you ask about but close. I paddled from Larne to Southend (Dunaverty Bay) as part of my first UK Circumnav in 2012. I was hoping to make Machrihanish but was late setting out and the swell finished me off. I had to turn back to Southend on the MoK - there is a brief...

Re: Customer Service - Whitewater The Canoe Centre
I was a little surprised when I broke the strap on my helmet. I was also slightly dis-chuffed to find the receipt showed it was out of warranty too (of course it had to be). But those very nice people at Whitewater The Canoe Centre got together with those other nice people at Sweet Protection to se...

Re: Deck Size for Avocet LV
Hi Mark I can supply custom neoprene decks if you want. We should have a template for an Avocet, if not if you supply one you'll get a deck that fits your boat exactly. We can also supply customised printing on the deck etc. I'm putting together an order now; as the decks are all individually manufa...

Re: ROUND BRITAIN KAYAK TRIP
Hello Simon The UK trip is far from easy, it's challenging and demanding with many unpleasant days, in fact it's quite hard. Unfortunately it's not all palm trees, sunshine, bikini's and cocktails on the beach - more wet, windy and Withernsea! The trip teaches many things: It's a great way to learn ...

Re: Tidal constants and ebb tide beginning earlier - Why?
I've been keeping Slack-water records for various spots around the Anglesey coastline for a number of years now, though a computer blowout means I lost my figures prior to 2006 (never found the backup disc either - bum). I started this when I thought that some of the published figures didn't really ...

Re: Is Palm gear really that bad ?
I took a set of Palm Ion trousers on my UK Circumnav this year, along with a Chinook cag and a Vortex(?) t-shirt cag . I also took a set of Kokatat Gore-Tex trousers and a couple of Kokatat cags. The Gore-Tex was the better fabric, but it does cost more - the Ions did the job fine for me. The only t...

Re: Are all kayak trolleys junk?
I took the KCS trolley on my 2012 UK Circumnavigation. Unfortunately it collapsed, causing the only real damage that the boat suffered on the trip. I couldn't get hold of a decent trolley for the 2015 UK Circ trip, so I had one made. It did the job admirably. The longest 'trolley' was 2km across the...

I stopped overnight as I paddled down the west coast this 'summer'. I was very impressed with the facilities and would like to say a thank-you for going to the trouble of providing them for paddlers.

You won't know unless you try Dave.
Get along to the pool sess and enjoy yourself - all you need is the ability to swim and the willingness to give it a go.

I have a 7 and a 9, both lightweight versions and both sourced from Summit to Sea.
The 7 does the job nicely but the 9 is luxury (and worth it!)
They both smooth out all the lumps and bumps to give as good a night's sleep as you'll get under canvas. Not used my Thermarest since.
