Re: Water of Leith - Balerno to Stockbridge
Tom Sanaghan and I did the WofL today from Currie down to the Sainsbury's car park in Slateford. Thought it was very good, will certainly do it again. River level was bottom end of high, def. not in spate. Would give it grade 3, but serious with 11? weirs 3 of them probably 3 metres high (We did all...

Re: RIVER CLYDE: City Centre to the Sea
The situation regarding the Clyde and kayaking has a long history, but basically the access legislation doesn't apply to Harbours. About 5 years ago Glasgow City Council, Clydeport (the Harbour Authority), the SCA and GKC agreed rules for kayakers to use the use of the river upstream of Erskine Brid...

Don't bother with this play spot, more fun can be had at the usual place under the bridge at crossford.

Re: River Avon - A801 to Linlithgow
Done this river a few times now, keep promising myself not to go back... It's grade 2 most of the time. You can get in as far up as a Avonbridge (when the rivers high) which gives more of the same. There's a tree right across the river (2013) just above the main Gorge, it's easy to spot and portage ...

Re: River Clyde access
Went to check the access this morning; it's still there as described in the guide book, though I suppose it might be helpful to have footpath sign. The new housing refered to (actually a replacement to an existing bungalow) is some 100m or so down stream from the access. The track that was driven do...

Re: River Clyde access
I'll look into it, noticed the building work last time I was there. The access road to the Power Station (and especially the house occupants) has always been a problem, it's a private road so presumably it's ok to carry boats down but not to drive down. That's the reason why we had to have the acces...

Re: Clyde - is it really this huge?
The Clyde river level's is interpreted as huge when its really just medium. The River Avon seems to be always empty when it really has water in. This is a pity as it's a really great trip, similar in difficulty and interest to the longer Upper Braan trip. For the Avon 0.6 is ok 0.8 good and above 1....
