Hi Tom,
Is your scorpio mv still for sale? I'm based in the midlands and I'm considering buying a second boat.

Re: Composite boats are they worth it?
Thanks for the advice. I'm leaning towards sticking with my plastic boat as composite boats, although great, are pushing it a bit financiallly for me.

Composite boats are they worth it?
Hi all, I'm an intermediate paddler who's owned a plastic perception essence 17 for several years now and it's served me well on loads of trips, including skomer and ramsey island and the skerries but I'm thinking of taking on some bigger crossings such as the scillies, lundy, maybe even the isle of...

Re: kayak advice
Hi all, Thanks for the advice, it's much appreciated. I can't justify paying £2000+ for a brand new composite boat but would certainly be interested in second hand for any of the boats recommended. Incidentally, swagstaff, how much are you asking for for your north shore atlantic and what sort of co...

kayak advice
Hi All, I'm looking for a bit of advice on composite kayaks. I already own a plastic sea kayak for rockhopping and generally bashing about without having to worry too much (perception Essence) but am on the look out for a second hand composite boat. I've paddled the Cetus HV and the NDK Romany Surf ...

Re: Building up to the big one
Thanks for all of the replies- some really helpful advice. In answer to some of your questions, I paddle every week, doing a mixture of open canoeing and kayaking. The only problem is I'm based in Central England so my sea paddling is limited to several trips a year, although I've managed to do a fa...

Building up to the big one
Hi all. I'm considering building up to an Irish sea crossing attempt, probably to raise money for charity and wondered if anyone out there has done it and would be willing to share an insight into the experience. I think realistically it's something I would need to build up to over the next 3-4 year...

folding canoe advice
Hi all. I'm considering buying my first canoe (up until now I've borrowed boats from my club) and would be interested to hear any opinions on folding canoes. I'm relatively experienced (3 star standard) and have enjoyed paddling royalex boats such as the Wenonah Prospector 15 but I'm thinking of get...

back strain advice
Hi All, I've recently read an article about kayaking and back pain and I'd be interested to hear what other's thoughts are on the issue, particularly from any paddling doctors or physiotherapists out there. The article suggested that a lot of kayaking associated back pain was due to the compression ...

canoe coaching
Hi all, I've recently got my 3 star open canoe and have done a little bit of training with Ray Goodwin. I'm thinking of booking another weekend's training with him next year to do some stuff on the lower Treweryn but would like to get a bit more experience of paddling easy/moderate grade 2 beforehan...

Re: Perception Carolina sale
Hi all, I'm based in Mancetter/Atherstone which is a small town inbetween Coventry and Tamworth. I've got a sea kayaking trip planned for the 25th and 26th July and have promised a mate that he can borrow the Carolina for this trip but would then be looking to sell it. I'll sort out some photos and ...

Perception Carolina sale
I'm selling a Perception Carolina touring kayak (the longer expedition version). I've had it for about 6 or 7 years now. Other than a few cosmetic scratches, it's in very good condition. I've used it for touring on my local canal, a few grade 1 river trips and coastal trips. The only reason I'm sell...

Re: plastic sea kayak dilemma
Hi Mike, In terms of my own observations I find it a bit of a beast to edge, and to roll as the cockpit is quite high at the back. Any comments that instructors have made haven't really been backed up by any clarification, they've just said that in their opinion it's not really a high performance bo...

Hi all.
I've recently done a course with Olly Sanders and had the pleasure of paddling a Cetus Classic; what a fantastic boat. Anyway selling one for a decent price second hand?

plastic sea kayak dilemma
Hi all. I wonder if someone could offer me a bit of advice or offer an opinion on the subject of plastic sea kayaks. I recently bought a Perception Essence 17 plastic sea kayak and I'm reasonably pleased with it (although it's a bit slow and unresponsive). However, I've done a number of courses sinc...

Hi all, I'm planning a two day trip to the Lleyn peninsula in July this year and wondered if anyone could give me some advice on good sea kayking routes in this area. I'm planning to stay either near Trefor or Criccieth as I'm going to combine sea kayaking with a bit of shore based scuba diving. In ...

SEA KAYAK ADVICE- PERCEPTION ROLLING
HI. I'M FAIRLY NEW TO SEA KAYAKING AND WOULD APPRECIATE A BIT OF ADVICE REGARDING A COUPLE OF QUERIES. FIRST OF ALL I RECENTLY BOUGHT A PERCEPTION ESSENCE 17. I'M GENERALLY PLEASED WITH IT BUT WHEN I TRY TO ROLL MORE OFTEN THAN NOT I SLIP OUT OF IT. AN INSTRUCTOR ON A COURSE I DID SAID IT WAS BECAUS...
